[00:00:00] Speaker A: In the student section of Manhattan are our avid listeners over there at Manhattan Christian. [00:00:04] Speaker B: Yes. [00:00:04] Speaker A: They had a sign in the student section that said put that on the podcast. [00:00:08] Speaker B: And we are. [00:00:08] Speaker A: And it's on the podcast. [00:00:10] Speaker B: And welcome back to the official Emmaus athletics podcast in the nest. I'm your co host Shane Douglas here with Matthew Tomlinson as always and we are happy to be here and be a part of your guys day. Thank you for listening and tuning in to this week's episode. It's finals week here at Emmaus. Matt, how are you feeling? Are you stressed? [00:00:31] Speaker A: I am very stressed. This is what going on year seven of not having a finals going into the fall semester. So I'm feeling stressed. [00:00:40] Speaker B: I gotta ask, do you miss being a student Sometimes, like, like when I, when I say this, life is simple. [00:00:47] Speaker A: Right. So I think about, like I'm sure as we both do, as probably many of you guys out there relate to this. Like, I think of the times of being a student and just the fond memories and like the how that altered, you know, life basically. And I reflect on those and I. [00:01:04] Speaker B: Have a lot of regrets. [00:01:07] Speaker A: Nice. Yes. So many of them. No. And just like the how awesome freshman year was like, that's your first time in college, your first time on your own and how exciting it is meeting new friends and then just going on and on throughout the years. So I don't miss school for sure. [00:01:22] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:01:22] Speaker A: Which is like why I'm like, oh boy. Like when we jump back into our master's program, I'm like, oh, but no, it was great being a student. As you know, it's just like we overlapped a couple years, but oh yeah, I don't miss the school and homework and the stress of. Oh yeah, finals week. Like many, many, many of our students are dealing with right now. [00:01:41] Speaker B: But they're gonna miss it. You're gonna miss school. I feel like I like, I feel like you won't, but you'll miss the structure, this, the like simplicity of it of being a student. Just go to class, you work, you. [00:01:53] Speaker A: Hang out with friends, go to class. [00:01:54] Speaker B: Hang out with friends. You get a month off. Yeah. You know, in the middle, like you get time off for Thanksgiving and winter and then spring or summer month off. [00:02:05] Speaker A: They have is so underrated. It's crazy. [00:02:08] Speaker B: My wife is a student still and she has, she's done this Friday and I feel like I'm done this Friday. [00:02:13] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:14] Speaker B: But no, I got to still work. [00:02:15] Speaker A: All of this week, all of next week, so dumb work. [00:02:18] Speaker B: Come on. So I, with that I do kind of miss it, but at the same time I don't, you know, so. But with that said, there's just a busy season for all student athletes across the board and to top it off with playing a basketball game, really tough. Gotta be tough. [00:02:36] Speaker A: Actually not though because it's after finals. So after all they're all playing stress free fair. [00:02:42] Speaker B: This, this weekend will be after finals. No class to worry about whatsoever. Probably the most stress free game of their entire career, hopefully. But we're not, we're, we'll talk about the, this weekend's games coming up at the towards the end of the podcast. But we'll, we're going to rec the games this last weekend, which is right before finals. You have a big road trip all the way down to Manhattan, Kansas. [00:03:05] Speaker A: Yes, I drove, we drove 1, 100 miles there and back. [00:03:10] Speaker B: So, so with that said, it's a lot of stress, a lot of pressure on that. Will's over here, he's sweating. He's our, our little finals done to. [00:03:18] Speaker A: Done yesterday. One today or whatever. [00:03:21] Speaker B: Yeah, one on Friday. [00:03:21] Speaker A: Yeah, four total ibi. [00:03:23] Speaker B: He said either way. So in today's episode we're going to talk about, we're going to recap the games from this weekend. [00:03:30] Speaker A: First conference games of the year by the way. [00:03:32] Speaker B: And then we're going to talk also about the games this upcoming weekend and then maybe just a little bit in between. So with that little here, a little there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. With that said, what happened? How was this last weekend? [00:03:43] Speaker A: Man, we drove, we played basketball, we drove back. [00:03:47] Speaker B: It was not a good weekend for Emus Athletics on the win loss column wise, that is. [00:03:53] Speaker A: Yes, yes, there were some good things with it. But yeah, we drove down to Manhattan, Kansas. They hosted Manhattan, Barkley, Emmaus and Faith. And so we all played each other in those two days that we were down there. On Friday, both the men and the women played Manhattan Christian and then on Saturday we played Barkley College. And so looking at the Manhattan Christian game on Friday, first conference games, we haven't had any first semester conference games since 2014. Just a new rule. The conference wants to kind of spread out the travel so it's not mega traveling all of January, all of February. And so yeah, we went down there to their place. The women played first. They, it was a pretty close game all three quarters. And then fourth quarter rolled around and kind of the steam just fell off. Manhattan pulled out, they ended up winning 60 to 40. It was like a five point game, pretty much the whole game. [00:04:45] Speaker B: What happens when you we don't have a lot of bench pieces. [00:04:48] Speaker A: Yeah. When you don't have much depth. And so, yeah, Rachel Barrett had a double double as she does every single game. So that was good. But yeah. Unfortunately couldn't quite get the win out. It was interesting because Manhattan only had six players too. It was literally the battle. [00:05:00] Speaker B: I thought so as well. [00:05:01] Speaker A: Yeah. And then the men played following that and I mean it was, it was a great game. The guy, the, the guys played pretty well. We ended up losing 90 to 77, which was as bad as it sounds. The closest loss we've had to them in that time. And so it was just encouraging because we were right there. I mean, we didn't shoot the ball well. I mean, we shot. That was actually the story of both teams this weekend because in the, in the girls game, they shot 25% from two or from the total and 7% from the three point line. [00:05:40] Speaker B: Oh my goodness. [00:05:41] Speaker A: We shot 37% from the field and 28% from the three point line. [00:05:45] Speaker B: 37 isn't like, it's not terrible but. [00:05:48] Speaker A: Like when you're, but when you, when you know you. 50. [00:05:50] Speaker B: Yeah. 48%, it's going to really show. And it does. It did. But then what is it? [00:05:54] Speaker A: 26, 28, 68% and 77% from the free throw line. And so I mean, we were right there the whole game. It was, it was encouraging because we haven't, I mean, Manhattan's the 10th ranked team in the nation. [00:06:05] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:06] Speaker A: And so losing by 13 is, I mean, the loss is a loss, but it's nothing to be ashamed of because we were, like I said right there the whole game. We, the, the two guys that we really keyed on, we were able to guard them pretty well. [00:06:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:20] Speaker A: But then a couple other guys kind of went off and hey, that's what happens with basketball. It was funny though, because during the game in the student section of Manhattan. Are our avid listeners over there at Manhattan Christian? [00:06:32] Speaker B: Yes. [00:06:32] Speaker A: They had a sign in the student section that said put that on the podcast. [00:06:36] Speaker B: And we are. [00:06:36] Speaker A: And it's on the podcast. [00:06:38] Speaker B: Whoa. [00:06:38] Speaker A: After the game, I came out of the locker room pretty quickly to try to. I want to get a picture with them. Be like, hey, this will be on the podcast. But they ran away. So. [00:06:46] Speaker B: Yeah. Hey, next time stick around. We'll take pictures. [00:06:49] Speaker A: Come on. [00:06:49] Speaker B: Matt will take a picture with you guys at the end of the game and we'll probably do it. The image on the podcast. [00:06:53] Speaker A: Yeah, we'll do it at the conference tournament in March or Late February. [00:06:56] Speaker B: That'd be fun. That'd be fun. I mean, that's the thing. You were. I mean, we are trying to take positive out of the negative. Yeah. But it is something to look at. Manhattan, you guys are a beast. You have controlled our conference for quite some time. [00:07:07] Speaker A: I mean, we haven't beat them since 2014. [00:07:10] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, there's something going on down in there in Kansas because Kansas City has won the AFC west for I think, what, eight? Something like. They have one of the longest winning streaks when it comes to Kansas air. Yeah. I mean, it's the same with the Patriots when they were in their dynasty. But I mean, Manhattan, Manhattan has always been the team you had to go through when it comes to a conference championships, sometimes even going to nationals. So it is a light spot of how our men's team was able to play against them. Even our women's team, of course, women's what lost by 20 and then men by 13. But still being in the game the entire, the entire way, all four quarters or majority of it, and to play so well with those numbers, knowing that we can do better, we did not have a good game is encouraging. So we're not, we're not trying to be, you know, blindly optimistic at all, but saying like there is a chance. There is something to be lots of opportunity there. Yeah. Manhattan probably knew they were going to win. They probably had that thought. But they didn't know they were going to win probably by that close game. So maybe they don't have that mindset. But that's something our guys are going to take into the next matchup against Manhattan. [00:08:21] Speaker A: Yep. [00:08:22] Speaker B: Is next semester. [00:08:23] Speaker A: We. [00:08:23] Speaker B: We know we can play with them. [00:08:24] Speaker A: Yes, we do. [00:08:25] Speaker B: So that's some encouragement from those two games on Friday. Yep. What about the Saturday games? [00:08:30] Speaker A: So it's quick turnaround. So it was 5 and 5pm 7pm games on Friday and then 10am and noon games on Saturday. [00:08:37] Speaker B: That's what happens when you, when you're two away teams. [00:08:40] Speaker A: You know, they just throw you playing at a neutral site. And so yeah, the, the women played first. They did not have a good game. They end up losing the way you just dropped 64, 41. But with that UK 23 point loss and they had 42 turnovers. [00:09:00] Speaker B: They had more turnovers than their points. [00:09:02] Speaker A: They had more turnovers than they had points. [00:09:04] Speaker B: That's insane. [00:09:05] Speaker A: And they lost by 23 points, which shows Rachel Barrett had another double double, which shows that like there's. There's something there. [00:09:15] Speaker B: Oh yeah. [00:09:15] Speaker A: So it showed like that's like, obviously, that's. I know Coach Kenard was super frustrated. Anyone would be. But the fact that you had more turnovers than you had points and you still lost by under 25 points. [00:09:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:09:28] Speaker A: Like, that's impressive. [00:09:30] Speaker B: That's crazy. [00:09:31] Speaker A: But we got to fix this ball. We got to fix the ball handling. We got to fix the passing. We got to fix a few things. [00:09:35] Speaker B: But super impressive that they had 43 turnovers. I'm not going to lie. But. Yeah, but also, like, in a negative way. But the thing is, is there is a. There wasn't much of a bright spot on the women's team this year with the transition of the coaching to lack of recruiting and knowing that we had nobody coming in for the women's team. So the women's. The women themselves, I don't know. I can't really speak for them on if they were discouraged or not, but you have to be a little bit. You have to be a little worried. And I'm sure they were, but they were. They were being faithful, and they stuck to the program. They stick to it, and they have a season. We're playing, and we're in the games. Yep, they're in the games. They're. You guys are doing. Doing fantastic. Yeah. [00:10:15] Speaker A: You have 23 points is the biggest loss of the season. [00:10:17] Speaker B: Yeah. Which is crazy. I mean, the thing is, everyone. A lot of people would think that they weren't going to be in most of the games, but. Yeah. The final score doesn't always tell the whole story, because within the last two minutes, one minute of the game, a team can score a majority of their, like, tons of points. [00:10:34] Speaker A: I mean, you look at the Maranatha game, we're up nine, 40 seconds left, only win by three. [00:10:37] Speaker B: So there it is. So even though it's a discouraging loss, it's a discouraging game for Coach Kenard and the women. I mean, you can fix it. [00:10:50] Speaker A: I mean, you take away half those turnovers. [00:10:52] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:53] Speaker A: Probably win honestly, like, because you're. At least. At least you're getting shot opportunities there instead of handing the ball to their team. [00:10:59] Speaker B: So, like, it's better to lose this way than lose away, where it's like we. We did nothing. [00:11:04] Speaker A: Right. [00:11:04] Speaker B: We didn't. We tried everything we can to win, and we. And it sounds like we tried everything we can to lose. [00:11:10] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:11:10] Speaker B: And if that's the issue, that is something to. That you can easily correct. Yes. [00:11:14] Speaker A: It is fixable, adjustable things that can happen. [00:11:17] Speaker B: And then you can look at the Manhattan game for the men's and women's and. But you know, looking at the men's and the percentage is just really bad. If you put them side to side. Manhattan versus a mass percentage wise from the field, from the three everything, obviously you can see that they won. [00:11:32] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:11:32] Speaker B: Just looking at the percentage, but also putting our percentage against Manhattan and compare it to knowing what our team can do, what they've done earlier in this season. We know they can play better. [00:11:43] Speaker A: Yes, 100%. [00:11:44] Speaker B: So it's adjustable. It's fixable. [00:11:46] Speaker A: Very fixable. I mean, like I said, you look at the stats. I mean our shooting percentage with both games was significantly lower than it. Our season average has been. So like, which happens when you play good teams, you have to adjust and you have to rise to the occasion. [00:11:59] Speaker B: And I think where Emmaus athletics is right now, and you could say this probably across all board when it comes to. It fluctuates based off conference play. But when we get to regionals, especially at a big stage at nationals, it will show that we can compete against any team if we play our best. [00:12:20] Speaker A: Yep. [00:12:21] Speaker B: We're not at a position where we can play our worst and still compete. Iowa State, for example. Good. [00:12:29] Speaker A: That was close. [00:12:29] Speaker B: That was nice. Iowa State, for example, they are one of the best teams in the nation currently. And we're. They're halfway through. Well, they're kind of halfway through the season. [00:12:38] Speaker A: Number three right now. [00:12:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:39] Speaker A: In the nation. Yeah. [00:12:40] Speaker B: They could play an okay game, sometimes bad game and still compete against majority of the teams. Right. They just. They can still win it all. They. We are not at the spot where Iowa State is at. [00:12:53] Speaker A: Nope. [00:12:54] Speaker B: Where we can stay, we can play good. [00:12:56] Speaker A: We can cruise to a victory. [00:12:57] Speaker B: No, like, we have to play our best to win against some of the top teams. Yes. But once when we are at the top team, if you're a recruiter or a recruit looking to play basketball and you want to join the program that has started and is growing and make this program one. Like a best program, one of the good, better programs program, then we will be able to compete even on good days or, you know. Okay, days. Yeah. [00:13:20] Speaker A: Average days. [00:13:21] Speaker B: But we got to play our best days. Yeah. Our, our, our men and our women across the board. Soccer, vol ball, basketball. They have to play their best. Even cross country, they got to play their best to beat the best. Right. We're not, we're not in the best category in some areas. Cross country. You guys, you guys fast. You guys, you guys got it. No one can talk to you. You're at the top you're returning most people. You're set. [00:13:43] Speaker A: Oh, boy. But that's gonna be scary. [00:13:45] Speaker B: I know. I'm excited. Hey, we got some recruits coming out of the fall. Out of the fall, but you get what I'm saying. Yes. Our men's team and women's teams across the board, they need to compete at the very best that they can. When they do, when they are playing their best, great things happen. They can beat teams like Manhattan. Yes. [00:14:02] Speaker A: So looking and then switching. [00:14:05] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:05] Speaker A: To the men's game. We did not execute well in our game. [00:14:12] Speaker B: So another fixable thing. [00:14:13] Speaker A: Another fixable thing. We lost 70 to 66. It was tied with 20 seconds left. And then they hit a shot to go up 2. We had a chance to score, did not score. Then they got the rebound fouled and maybe two free throws. So it was a close game. [00:14:30] Speaker B: Throughout the week. [00:14:30] Speaker A: Was a close game. I mean, it was one possession. Like, we held their leading score to, like seven points, but then they had one of their. Their second best player ended up having a really good game, but, you know, had some really good bench energy this week for both games. Will and Nathaniel and Eli came up the bench and. And played really well. But, yeah, we just, we didn't shoot well against. In either game, especially the Barclay game, we shot pretty poor. We did have 21 turnovers, which was a killer. It was like in the fourth, in the second half. Excuse me, we would get a stop, then we couldn't score or we would score and then we would give up points on the other end. And so it was just. It was. It was tough because, yeah, like, we played a pretty good defensive game against a pretty good Barkley team. [00:15:14] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:15:14] Speaker A: Just could not put the ball in the basket. And that was super frustrating. But like you said, that is fixable. Like, you know, you'll have your nights where you shoot great. You have your nights when you don't shoot well. But if we can get, you know, more consistent than that, I mean, right now we're still. I mean, we're still tired. Like, I think we're just. We're like 1.1 points under being the third leading scoring team in the nation on average, which is pretty impressive. [00:15:39] Speaker B: Very impressive. For a five and four team. [00:15:41] Speaker A: Yeah, for a five and four team. It's just. And even if you take away the FLBC game, we're still fourth, which is crazy. [00:15:47] Speaker B: You take that away, actually. That's really crazy. Wow. [00:15:54] Speaker A: I know. [00:15:54] Speaker B: That's wild. [00:15:55] Speaker A: And so, like, the fact that. [00:15:57] Speaker B: That's nuts. That's 114 points. [00:15:59] Speaker A: I know it's crazy the fact that, you know, four point loss. But like we should we. Looking back at this weekend, we should have won the Barkley game. Could have won the Manhattan game. [00:16:08] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:09] Speaker A: And so like, but he got, you know, to look at it from the other side. You know, if we had won, you know, winning covers a multitude of what we say, basketball sins. And so like, if we had won both games, you know, that wouldn't have fixed anything. That would look great to be 7 and 2. But seeing like, okay, like these certain areas were super inerrant that we have to fix. Like, we wouldn't have gotten that if we had won both games. The fact that we lost, like, we don't say we don't lose. We learn. We win and we learn. And so what can we learn from these two games that we can then fix, especially for this upcoming Saturday's game, but also going into break and into next semester because again, we competed well. We just didn't execute well. And like, knowing that we can compete well is great. We just have to fine tune those execution details to be able to, you know, run the play properly or set the right screen or finish or. [00:17:08] Speaker B: And you guys have a young team. The men's team is very young. [00:17:11] Speaker A: 11 new players in this team. [00:17:12] Speaker B: And the thing is, a conference game is a, A top game. [00:17:17] Speaker A: Oh yeah. [00:17:17] Speaker B: It's an important. It's not just important for conferences. It's important for, for region or not for regionals, but for national seeding and, and everything. It's going to prepare us for regional play, which is going to be extremely difficult. But even conference plays difficult. Ozark has been good recently and even like Manhattan Barclay, everybody's face. [00:17:34] Speaker A: Everyone right now like Calvary just beat Central. You know, Ozark beat Central. Like Faith beat Barclay. Like there's a lot of, like a lot of teams are competing very well together. [00:17:42] Speaker B: It kind of seemed similar to the soccer season where all the teams were beating one another either in regional play or mostly in their regional play. But it is kind of crazy how our conference is for men's basketball is a powerhouse. It's. It's very well balanced in recent years. We've been there and then haven't. It's been a roller coaster ride for Emmaus athletics for the men's basketball team. But I feel like we have a team this year that can compete. We see that. We saw that this weekend. [00:18:09] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:10] Speaker B: And just like a spotlight. Nathaniel Wagner, just a bench that from. [00:18:15] Speaker A: Saturday, nine rebounds, killing it. [00:18:17] Speaker B: He's had a great Season. Nobody knew what he was going to bring to the team, you know, but he, he took the time that he got early in the season and really impressed and showed you coaches, like, you got to play me if you want to win this game. [00:18:31] Speaker A: And Will Shaw came off the bench Friday night, had 14 points in 14 minutes or 10 points on Saturday. So, like, it's really exciting to see these younger freshmen. [00:18:39] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:18:39] Speaker A: You know, that are playing, are starting to come around and playing very well. [00:18:42] Speaker B: Yeah. And I love, I love seeing all that, them working together. And then you said the, I, I, you said, what the bench would you say about the bench? You said the. A lot of hype. Hype on the bench or a lot. [00:18:53] Speaker A: Of, A lot of, A lot of bench, you know, scoring bench support. [00:18:57] Speaker B: Yeah. And I, before you got into your meaning of that, like the context, I took it in a way of just encouragement from the bench. But I still see that. I still see the entire team together, the entire team supporting one another, even if they don't. [00:19:12] Speaker A: That was the biggest thing too. Like, if this was previous year's teams. [00:19:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:19:17] Speaker A: Not no shade on anyone, but like, you know, it. And people would be out of, people would be attacking each other like, like, figuratively, obviously, like, change to passing the ball. Come on, dog. But like, this team is stuck. This, yeah. Can't see me. But this team is sticking together and they're like, they love each other and it's, it's just been really cool to see, like, you know, through those two frustrating losses. [00:19:40] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:19:40] Speaker A: Like, our mindset is still the same. And that's super encouraging because that's what we have to do in order to be successful in, in late February, in March. [00:19:48] Speaker B: Yeah, it's exciting. Men's basketball, Women's basketball is very exciting. Women have been very impressive this year, Even given the 1 in 6 record they currently have. And men, Men's team is at 5 and 4. Even if they lose this weekend, they're going into break 500. So very long time has not done that in a while. [00:20:11] Speaker A: Very, very long time. [00:20:12] Speaker B: But I'm, I mean, we're excited to see what this team can do next semester with fixing and correcting these, these small errors in the game. Because these errors go a long way. It's not like baseball where one error could, could win a game. Right. One, I mean, one turnover could. [00:20:30] Speaker A: Could in theory, yes. [00:20:31] Speaker B: In theory, like lose a game for you. [00:20:33] Speaker A: But if you fix that one thing that fixes one turnover a game, you know, there's 27 turnovers. [00:20:39] Speaker B: It's a domino effect. It's always a domino effect. So you can always look at each game that our team had, especially this last weekend, knowing that we were, you know, just in reach of, honestly, possibly four wins instead of four losses, that it happened to just fall on that side of. Of a loss for all four games. And it's tough. Something we got to swallow and move on and fix and correct. And we have the right coaches and the right players in the right positions to do so. Yes. So with that said, shout out to you Manhattan fans for listening to the podcast. [00:21:17] Speaker A: Whether you listen for fun or you look for firepower or whatever. Yeah, we appreciate the support. [00:21:22] Speaker B: I wonder about that. I wonder if they were, like, actually hating on us. [00:21:25] Speaker A: I wonder. [00:21:25] Speaker B: Let us know you actually, if you're hating on us, because then that would make us happy or sad. So. [00:21:35] Speaker A: Funny. All right, well, looking ahead, Shane, we have our last game of the semester for both the men and the women's team is this Saturday. [00:21:44] Speaker B: We're home at home. [00:21:46] Speaker A: Home in the Pollard field house. Protect the nest. [00:21:50] Speaker B: I wonder how it's gonna be. Dude, you'll actually. You'll have, like, Roy Cozen, Professor Cozen and Joe Abbey area. That's it. That's it. Them and their wives and Tracy and then everyone else. [00:22:02] Speaker A: A few people in town. But, yeah, we play Kuiper College. So a regional opponent. [00:22:06] Speaker B: Kuiper. So good. [00:22:07] Speaker A: So it's encouraging because, you know, like you said, the men are 5 and 4. They're 0 and 2 in conference, but 2 and O in the region. The women are 1 and 6 overall. 0 and 2 in the conference, but 2 and oh. Or 1 and O in the region. So one against Maranatha. And so, yeah, these are two big regional games for both teams. [00:22:25] Speaker B: Yeah, this is the second year for Kuiper's program. [00:22:27] Speaker A: Third or fourth, but yeah. So Kuiper for the men, last year, they were the number two seed going into regionals, and so they're very, very talented team. They just lost to. No, they just beat Ohio. No. Did they lose? They just played Ohio Christian, which is Nai. [00:22:40] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:41] Speaker A: And they stuck with. They competed well the whole game. So they're very talented. They ended up losing. I can't remember. They lost to Manhattan 3 two weeks ago. Same score Kuiper did. It was 76 and 90. And then they beat Faith. And so, yeah. [00:22:57] Speaker B: Oh, wow. [00:22:57] Speaker A: So it should be good game. But then Faith girls beat them, beat the Kuiper girls. [00:23:00] Speaker B: So, yeah, I always looked at Kuiper. At least last year, Kuiper As I. [00:23:06] Speaker A: Mean if you look better than any team in our conference, that's what the. That's what it was. [00:23:10] Speaker B: I mean we'll see, we'll see how we play. I mean of course a team's mindset going into game changes a lot how they play. And if Matt Manhattan looked at it us as a cakewalk, maybe that reflects the score. [00:23:23] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:23] Speaker B: And that they didn't. They probably didn't play well in their opinion. Maybe. But yeah. I'm curious to see what this. What this game turns out because Kiper was incredible. [00:23:33] Speaker A: They were really good last year. Yeah. A lot of we don't play them till Saturday. [00:23:36] Speaker B: Athletes. [00:23:36] Speaker A: Yeah, some. I mean they're super tall team. [00:23:39] Speaker B: Very athletic. [00:23:39] Speaker A: Herman Brown. They're. They're. They're a best player just came off athlete of the week for looked like. [00:23:44] Speaker B: The Harlem Globe Trotters last year. Yes. Everyone had springs. [00:23:48] Speaker A: They come down on Friday and they play Faith. Faith come. We're hosting Faith and Kuiper and then we play them on Saturday. So. [00:23:54] Speaker B: Okay. Well that's going to be super fun. Both men's and women. [00:23:56] Speaker A: Yep, both men's and both men's and. [00:23:58] Speaker B: Women'S time for the men's team. Time, sir. [00:24:00] Speaker A: I believe it's 11 and 1. [00:24:02] Speaker B: Okay. So early games after fact. [00:24:04] Speaker A: Check me, but I believe that's what it is. [00:24:06] Speaker B: Early games. Look it up on our social media. Keep in touch there as well as you can. Actually Dylan has A clipboard. Yeah. So funny. Love it. Well, I'm excited for the Kuiper game. That's going to be, that's going to really show us where we stand. Not just in regionals but I feel. [00:25:14] Speaker A: Like as the top half of the regions for sure. [00:25:17] Speaker B: But regionals, top half like you said. But across the board when it comes to some of these top teams like Manhattan and where I'm excited to see how Ozark is this year and. And Faith as well. Faith is always good. They always have those sharp shootings. [00:25:29] Speaker A: Hyper received a vote in the last coaches poll too. [00:25:31] Speaker B: Ok. [00:25:32] Speaker A: I think so. Pretty sure they did. [00:26:04] Speaker A: Maybe some tears. [00:26:06] Speaker B: Hope not. [00:26:06] Speaker A: Hopefully not. [00:26:07] Speaker B: Maybe from me or Matt. We'll be crying. Yeah. So that's what I think the next two weeks will look like is those interviews and then maybe some other interviews after that.
