[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign welcome to in the Nest, your front row seats to Emmaus Athletics. I'm your co host Shane Douglas here with our lovely beautiful co host Master Tomlinson. Thank you for showing us your beauty. [00:00:22] Speaker B: Of course. [00:00:22] Speaker A: Great to be back. Episode five. [00:00:25] Speaker B: Let's go. Episode five, Season four. [00:00:27] Speaker A: Awesome. Great to be here. Great to be here. Thank you guys for listening to us, making us a part of your day and your daily routine. Weekly routine. You know I wonder if people watch driving routine. Yeah, I wonder if people watch us like twice in one week. [00:00:40] Speaker B: Actually I was talking to along this Justin Smith and he said he listened to a few episodes on the way back from Anony on their drive. [00:00:46] Speaker A: Love it. I'm all for it. [00:00:48] Speaker B: Some people do. [00:00:49] Speaker A: Hey, there we go. How has your week been? We haven't dude talked for like over a week. [00:00:54] Speaker B: Crazy week. I know we, we work next to each other. We don't talk until the episode. [00:00:58] Speaker A: This episode. [00:00:58] Speaker B: No dude, crazy week. As you know, we had Discover May this weekend. Oh yeah, that's fantastic event. [00:01:04] Speaker A: Forgot about that. [00:01:04] Speaker B: Long hours for us obviously, but that, but we enjoy that because I mean we just get to be around prospective students and our current students and just interact with them and get to know them and you know, kind of walk life with them for three days and show them what a mas is like. But yeah, still a little bit tired recovering from that. But fantastic weekend. A lot of fantastic students and man, Shane, that concert was amazing. Yes, that concert from Chris Remsma and Jervis Campbell was awesome. [00:01:32] Speaker A: It was great. They're, they're awesome guys. It's great to have them here on campus. And the students loved it. You know Chris's set was amazing. Students really got involved in it and you know the, the, the, the house was packed which was great and we had about a hundred people on campus for the, for Discover Mass weekend and it was a great time. It was really awesome. It wasn't too crowded and it was good space. It was good weather too other than the rain on Thursday. So I think that was the only time it rained. But it went very well. [00:02:05] Speaker B: You think? We probably had 350 there for the concert cuz there a lot of outside people like it was packed. I mean the auditorium was full. [00:02:11] Speaker A: It was, it was a great time. So we have another one coming up in March which we'll talk more about that much more later. [00:02:18] Speaker B: Keep an eye out for that on our socials. [00:02:20] Speaker A: That's true. But a good week for cross country. [00:02:23] Speaker B: Yes, cross country. Let's go. [00:02:25] Speaker A: Volleyball had a match as well, but yeah, let's, I guess let's just get into it right now. Let's talk about this week. It's small week. Yes. Yeah, it's a small week. So not a lot to review from this last week. But if the headline is cross country, let's go. [00:02:42] Speaker B: The guys, the men are finally. They finally ran an 8K. Shane. Finally as they finally run an 8K to kind of. [00:02:49] Speaker A: They're like what, three races in three races. [00:02:51] Speaker B: That was our third rate. [00:02:52] Speaker A: Third or fourth would have been the. [00:02:54] Speaker B: No, that was the fourth race. Right. Because it was 6K6. No, it was 5K. [00:02:58] Speaker A: Third or fourth race. [00:02:59] Speaker B: Yeah, third or fourth. [00:03:00] Speaker A: We finally, they finally run a race that they can qualify for nationals. [00:03:04] Speaker B: And yeah, as they, as they're making this, no pun intended run to kind of defend getting back to that national champion ship caliber which they were runners up last year. [00:03:14] Speaker A: It's gonna be tough this year with losing a couple runners last year. [00:03:17] Speaker B: But yeah, and then Ben, you know, being gone for military. But then he'll be back. But yeah, little, little, you know, not as fast year as last year, but still super solid. And we saw that as in their first race eligible, they qualified for national. So good job to our men's cross country team. Really cool that four of the five runners also individually qualified. And like we talked about in earlier episodes how coach Girardi was, how he mentioned like they were really running together like in the same kind of almost group in the 5K and the 6K kind of similar in this 8K. I mean the first, the top four, you know, Christian almost said his PR, which is super cool. But the top four guys, you know, Nathan, Isaac, Caleb and Christian all finished within a minute. [00:04:00] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:04:01] Speaker B: Which is pretty cool. [00:04:01] Speaker A: Really cool. [00:04:02] Speaker B: Really cool. [00:04:02] Speaker A: And it's, it's like we talk about kind of the difference of the team from last year to this year and the expectations to follow up the success from last year and how it's going to be. It's going to be difficult. We're not going to say it can't happen, but it's going to be difficult because we did lose Ben for just this year as he's in the military and he's. He'll be coming back. Benjamin Driscoll. And he was our top runner last. [00:04:25] Speaker B: Year and he's our fastest runner in school history. [00:04:26] Speaker A: It's true. Yeah. And losing a couple others, it will be tough. But when you can say that your team qualified for nationals, that is such a huge accomplishment. And I feel like because we're new to the Cross country world, we are spoiled because, like, every year we qualify. Well, I mean, like, this is the. [00:04:43] Speaker B: Second year of the men's team, too. Like, this is the second year we've had enough guys. [00:04:45] Speaker A: Yeah. It's just been like. Like, we just been spoiled. We've been successful since day one. [00:04:52] Speaker B: Shout out to the Girardi. [00:04:53] Speaker A: It's. Honestly, honestly, they're all. They're out there recruiting. He's going on a trip next week. [00:04:57] Speaker B: I believe he's seen three different people. [00:04:59] Speaker A: Yeah, it's just like, he already has. [00:05:00] Speaker B: The first 2027 verbal commit. [00:05:02] Speaker A: This is true. Like, it's just. Yeah. For all you guys, thinking like, oh, we made national is not a big thing. It's a huge thing. There's tons of schools that have to wait to the last race at regionals to be able to. To qualify for nationals because, like, maybe there's. Maybe there's injuries. Maybe their team isn't just as. As skilled. Like, or maybe this is a bad track or other, which we have seen. [00:05:24] Speaker B: That with some harder tracks versus some, quote, easier tracks. [00:05:26] Speaker A: So it's just funny that we're just like, oh, we've been a national school. Yay. Like, we expect this, guys. It's. It shouldn't be an expectation. I mean, I guess it can't. It's not bad to have an expectation. [00:05:39] Speaker B: This is what, the fifth year of the cross country program and of the Girardi's coaching and, you know, the fourth last year being the fourth year already the most successful Emma sports team ever. Like, it just shows, like, you know, they're on a national scale. On a national scale, right? Yeah. Like, national champion, runners up. [00:05:55] Speaker A: Like, we should we get a banner? Do we get a banner? [00:05:59] Speaker B: Oh, that's the thing that you don't. [00:06:00] Speaker A: That's dumb. [00:06:01] Speaker B: I know. It's like, I think coach Girardi said for. Because it's different for cross country than it is for other sports. It's like, I think they got a trophy or they got a plaque. They got a plaque. But it's like, if you win regionals or super regionals or nationals, then you get a banner. [00:06:18] Speaker A: That's. [00:06:18] Speaker B: I know. [00:06:19] Speaker A: Well, that's when regionals. [00:06:20] Speaker B: I mean, but that also, like, in theory, we could make our own banner that says 2024 men's cross country. [00:06:28] Speaker A: That's kind of, like, weird. [00:06:30] Speaker B: But still, it's. I mean, that's pretty cool. I mean, obviously, I know you're like, that's like, lost the Super Bowl. We're gonna put a banner up. But it's like. No, that's a tremendous accomplishment. [00:06:38] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, that's why they have the, like the championship, the conference championship banner that they can put up there, you know, So. I don't know. Either way, though, guys, like, we've been spoiled with our cross country team, with our coaches, the Gerardes, and with the. Our runners that we have, especially. This is Anna Coniglios last year, senior year for an. That's crazy, you know, but seeing the guys come together, being also close in times, like pushing each other, competing against one another, but also, like I said, pushing each other as a team to have a faster time, it's gonna be really cool. It's better when they're all clumped together, you know, closer up, because that's more points as a total for them. [00:07:16] Speaker B: Exactly. Right. [00:07:17] Speaker A: At nationals, at least. Right. I mean, I remember last year they were. They weren't clumped up. They were all so spread out. And, you know, obviously when you finish faster, you go by, you know, the ranking of the number you finished and, you know, if. If they're all clumped up, you know, those are much lower numbers, as long. [00:07:34] Speaker B: As they're clumped up on the top. But. No, that's so true. Like. Yeah, when they're not. When you have, you know, some. I don't want to say stragglers, but when you have some runners that are in the back that are. And you only have five or whatever, like that last one. Yeah, that means a lot depending on that last play. So it really emphasizes how they finish strong. [00:07:53] Speaker A: And. And with so many of our guys qualifying individually for nationals, it pushes the rest of the guys to. To step up and to. To run, to like, man, I gotta. [00:08:03] Speaker B: You got this. You got this. [00:08:04] Speaker A: I gotta get there too. You know, individually, as a team. They're going. They're set. The. The ticket has been punched. [00:08:11] Speaker B: Let's go. Cross country. [00:08:13] Speaker A: Men's cross country team individually. And for the four runner, who are the four runners that got it? [00:08:19] Speaker B: Christian, Caleb, Nathan and Isaac. [00:08:22] Speaker A: There we go. So congratulations, guys, for your success. And. [00:08:26] Speaker B: And that's with the race that they ran. I mean, there was like 260 run guy on the men's side and there was like 260 runners on the women's side. Yeah, so it was a very big race. [00:08:37] Speaker A: Yeah. So congratulations, guys. That's pretty cool. And then on the girls, on the. On the women's end, it's the, you know, same thing. Still. Still pushing for some more individual national qualifications, but also, as A team. What's really cool, something to highlight is Riley Wrath. Just jumping up the boards for our women's team. One of her first years, I believe, run across country. [00:09:02] Speaker B: Second year. [00:09:03] Speaker A: Oh, no, last year. Last year, one of her first years running cross country has made a massive leap and we've talked about that in earlier episodes of. To watch out for her. And she's. She is. [00:09:14] Speaker B: I mean, she's right there, too. She's right there for. From the qualifying time. [00:09:18] Speaker A: Yeah, she's sticking true to our word, I guess, of really making a massive leap this year in. In the strides. Massive strides. [00:09:26] Speaker B: And Jesse is right behind her, too. She's made tremendous, tremendous strides from race one, you know, to now. Like, she's going to push Riley to run faster because she's. Because Jesse's coming for Riley. [00:09:40] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. And Jesse's a. She's an athlete. So I love that they're all pushing each other to get better and to get there. And we got some good news. Possibly. [00:09:49] Speaker B: Possibly. But big shout out to Joy Heater. Obviously she's not been able to run because of injuries, but Coach Gerardi just said he's so happy because Joy is the cheerleader on the team. She's been so positive and so supportive of her teammates and, you know, the guy runners. But she's healing and she might be back, which will be huge. She might be back for the women's team. [00:10:10] Speaker A: She was one of our top recruits this last offseason, so to get her back on the team would definitely. [00:10:14] Speaker B: I mean, her time would put us at that time to qualify. [00:10:17] Speaker A: So definitely push. [00:10:18] Speaker B: Not to put any pressure. [00:10:19] Speaker A: Yeah, definitely push those. The national qualifier qualify numbers up there. And maybe. Maybe it'll be a. A regional. A regional race that will get us there. But there's a few more races left in the season for our women's and men's cross country team. So we'll. We'll talk more about that later. But they'll have a break coming up this upcoming week, so good for them to. To heal, to. To get better and for even Joy to heal more, to try to get her back on the track. But the other. The only other game that we had this last weekend was for the women's volleyball team. [00:10:52] Speaker B: Volleyball. Volleyball. Tough four game stretch. [00:10:56] Speaker A: It's been tough. It has a tough month. [00:10:58] Speaker B: It has really been. I mean, they played some tough competition. They played an NAI team, our NCCA Division 2 number one team, the number four team, and now another NAI team. So it's been. It has been a Tough stretch. But, you know, they have been improving. They have been doing some good things. You know, still some things to work on, obviously. But when you're playing the best of the best, I mean, it's good because it exposes really what your weaknesses are, and it really, you know, puts you in a position to reevaluate, to work on things so that when you go back and play, you know, more of level competition, you can really work on those things to then prepare yourself for when you go play those tough teams again later in the season. [00:11:40] Speaker A: Oh, for sure. Like, this is. It's. It's tough from the record, from the losses and seeing. So, like, a lot of mental mistakes and errors on our end and like, really, honestly, truly giving the win to the opponent. You want them to earn it, right? And I like. And, like, it's tough when you play NAIA teams because the skill level is. [00:12:00] Speaker B: I mean, you're playing against scholarship athletes. [00:12:02] Speaker A: It's true. [00:12:02] Speaker B: Athletic scholarship. [00:12:03] Speaker A: It's true. You know, but especially against, like, other teams, some NAI teams and, you know, a lot of the teams we have been playing this month, we've been giving them. We haven't let. We haven't let them earn a full game. Of course, not trying to take away from our opponents. Like you said, number one team in a nation, number four team in the nation, very talented teams, but not letting them fully earn a set or a. A match completely from us. So it's. [00:12:29] Speaker B: I mean, it's not. It's not a talent issue. This team is not a talent. It's just. It's the in between things. [00:12:34] Speaker A: I don't. [00:12:35] Speaker B: Mental stuff. It's the communication. Like, it's not. This team is very talented. [00:12:39] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. I don't even think it's a argument that this team is more talented than last year. You know, no offense to people. We have lost. We lost a lot of talent last year, but we gained a lot of talent this year as well. [00:12:48] Speaker B: And improvement moment. [00:12:50] Speaker A: So it's. Yeah, like, it's just a funk, man. [00:12:54] Speaker B: We're just in a valley. Yeah, I know. We'll get. [00:12:57] Speaker A: We'll get through it, but they gotta persevere. Stay true. Stay true to what truly matters off the court and, you know, have fun. Right? It is. It is really cool, though. [00:13:06] Speaker B: It was that joy. [00:13:07] Speaker A: Yeah. It's cool to see some of the. Some of the women on the team when they're playing, they're down. They do smile like they do. They're having a good time. [00:13:17] Speaker B: Something's so little. [00:13:18] Speaker A: But so. And I Don't know if those smiles are true or genuine. Yeah, yeah, like, that's so fake. Look at that. [00:13:23] Speaker B: But I'm having a great time here in the podcast. [00:13:25] Speaker A: Stop. But, like, it is. It's encouraging to see, like, at least from my perspective or someone who's watching of, like, heads, shoulders, these. These young women. Yeah, these young women are. They're trying, you know, they're putting forth effort or if anything, trying to be a good leader, trying to be a good example to the younger women on the team. And it's. It's cool. It's encouraging, for sure. It's just, It's. It's frustrating, though, because we know they can. They can play better. And, and something that I don't want happening in, like, the, like, previous years is to just wait for regionals, knowing that the competition at regionals might not be as. As tough as our conference or even against these NAIA teams. Like, let's go. We got to go. We got to play hard now. [00:14:04] Speaker B: Fix it now. [00:14:05] Speaker A: We got to. We got to take some sets off of, you know, our conference teams. We got to go as far as we can in conference. We got to take some sets off of the NAI teams, these tough schools, because if we can't, if we don't learn how to win against these, These more difficult teams, how are we going to be able to finish the game at the end of the day and. And regionals? So just a little encouragement of, like, just play strong girls. Like, you guys. Got it. You have our women's volleyball team. No offense to all the other sports, but they have the biggest cheer section. They have. What? [00:14:37] Speaker B: I'm just kidding, dude. [00:14:38] Speaker A: Come on. Like, they have their parents, the family, they travel so much. And like, no offense, like, there's definitely a lot of other parents that travel for the other sports, but I'm talking. [00:14:47] Speaker B: About three times, so definitely offense. Throw. [00:14:50] Speaker A: Well, this is our audience. This is our audience is the families and the friends listening, waiting for us to. To talk about, you know, their kid or their friend, their grandkid, and it's just really cool to see the volleyball team, their family. [00:15:04] Speaker B: I mean, when we traveled down last week to Ankeny, I mean, we had a whole section of families. It was awesome. [00:15:11] Speaker A: It's great. We even have some students that traveled and down there, but the fact that families are driving like five plus hours, they come to the. The. The volleyball games is just awesome. It's really cool to see. I didn't see it a lot when we were students from a lot of family Members, but it's. [00:15:27] Speaker B: I don't think I was. I don't think, like, we were probably really paying attention then, but probably. I, Like, I don't even remember, like, like, the teams I played on. Like, like, obviously my parents were there because my dad drove the bus everywhere, but, like, yeah, I don't. I, like, we've never had across the board, even with, like, even with the soccer team and with volleyball, just supportive families, like, it's. It's tremendous. [00:15:49] Speaker A: So. [00:15:50] Speaker B: That is so cool. [00:15:51] Speaker A: Exactly. So our women's team, they have the support. You have, the love, you know, from all of us here in the studio, from us here at Emmaus University and your family and friends back home. Make us proud. Right? Just go out there, play your best. Like, I, like, I don't know what else to say. I don't have to say anything. You know, we're not trying to. [00:16:09] Speaker B: They're gonna bounce back. They're gonna bounce back. And this. This last stretch, this upcoming stretch, I should say is gonna be good. [00:16:15] Speaker A: It's true. So we're looking forward to the. The. Honestly, the rest of the women's season, I think. [00:16:20] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:16:20] Speaker A: Like you said, they're gonna make a massive bounce back. [00:16:22] Speaker B: I know this is looking ahead, but speaking of family support, I'm excited to see all the, like, everyone that comes to the homecoming game because there's so much family there. [00:16:30] Speaker A: Yeah. We got homecoming weekend coming up this weekend, which we'll talk about. [00:16:36] Speaker B: Soccer. Soccer was off. They have a large break. Just working on health. Health has been a pretty big issue this year, unfortunately. So with them having 10 to 11 days off between games, especially with Friday's game was canceled because of, you know, Kuiper didn't have enough players, unfortunately. But they have a little. They have a lot of rest to get healed because we've been missing some key parts of our team. [00:17:01] Speaker A: Yeah, they're supposed to play Saturday. [00:17:02] Speaker B: Yeah, they play Saturday, but they don't play Friday. [00:17:04] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah. Yeah. [00:17:05] Speaker B: Because Friday's going to get canceled, but tough. Yeah. Excited to see them on Saturday. Hopefully fully healthy. [00:17:10] Speaker A: Yeah. For the most part, they're. We. Exactly. Like, we haven't really had a. A, A full game of all of our healthy starters in the match. So we're looking at possibly having that this Saturday against a regional matchup. Regional matchup, which we. Which we'll get into, though, later. So. Yep. Caleb, Hunter and Hassan possibly being healthy and hopefully for a comeback. If not here. Maybe. Maybe. I think Hassan might be cleared to play. Caleb's still making those Strides, Caleb Hunter. We'll see if they can get back this Saturday for a huge matchup. [00:17:42] Speaker B: But that being said now, fast break. [00:17:46] Speaker A: Yes. Everyone's verified the only reason I do the show anymore. [00:17:50] Speaker B: All right, Shane, what do you have for me? Okay, I'm nervous like usual, cuz I don't know where this is going to go. [00:17:54] Speaker A: I'm not making Will do a lot of graphics anymore since he messed up last week. What the heck will Chris Godwin back to back? [00:18:02] Speaker B: Lt is the one of the greatest running backs of all time. Top three. [00:18:06] Speaker A: Lived in San Diego for a little bit. You got Daniel Thomason wrong. Don't you dare talk to me. [00:18:12] Speaker B: That's like getting Derek Rose wrong. And if you grew up in Chicago. [00:18:15] Speaker A: Yeah. Or Michael Jordan. Honestly, like. LT is the Michael Jordan of the. The Chargers. So. [00:18:22] Speaker B: Hey, double cross. Controversial thing about Lt Ladanian Tomlinson is the real Lt, not Lawrence Taylor. [00:18:30] Speaker A: Oh, 100. [00:18:31] Speaker B: Yeah, it is. [00:18:31] Speaker A: Yeah. Lawrence Taylor's. Lawrence Taylor. Like, respect his name. Don't give him a nickname. Not saying, like Ladan Thomason. You don't respect his name, but Lawrence Taylor was an. A monster. [00:18:41] Speaker B: Lt was around now with fantasy football. [00:18:43] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm sure you do. Wow, you got good running backs on your team. All right, let's get into this. So we're just gonna do something really fun, something super simple. We're gonna do a top 10. Matt. [00:18:52] Speaker B: Top 10. [00:18:53] Speaker A: Top 10. So this isn't your top 10. This is you naming the top 10 most popular sports in the world. [00:19:02] Speaker B: Most popular sports in the world. [00:19:05] Speaker A: Now, are you gonna be able to get a sweep? [00:19:07] Speaker B: I know. I mean, If I go 10 for 10. I'm not going 10 for 10. [00:19:10] Speaker A: Let's see if you do. [00:19:11] Speaker B: All right. [00:19:12] Speaker A: Cat, the pen cap is off. [00:19:13] Speaker B: Am I. [00:19:14] Speaker A: Let's see. [00:19:14] Speaker B: Okay, well, obviously soccer is on the list. [00:19:17] Speaker A: Soccer, also known as football to the rest of the world, is number one. [00:19:23] Speaker B: Number one. [00:19:24] Speaker A: Over 3.5 billion people that play it. [00:19:26] Speaker B: That's crazy. [00:19:28] Speaker A: So soccer, you got what else? [00:19:31] Speaker B: Basketball. [00:19:32] Speaker A: Basketball. Is it. Is it. It's number seven. [00:19:35] Speaker B: Yep. [00:19:36] Speaker A: Number seven with over 800 million people that play it. [00:19:39] Speaker B: Interesting. I mean, if we're looking at a population standpoint, cricket has to be on that. [00:19:44] Speaker A: Cricket, number two. With over 2.5 billion people that have played it. [00:19:49] Speaker B: That's crazy. Cricket. So cricket, soccer and basketball. Let's go with baseball. [00:19:59] Speaker A: Baseball, number eight with over 50. 50 or 500 million people that play it. [00:20:04] Speaker B: Dang. That's kind of. That's a big gap. [00:20:06] Speaker A: Yeah. So right now you're missing 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10. [00:20:10] Speaker B: I mean, I think naturally we would think football, but then again, that's just really. I mean, there's like, some. There's some Canadian League. There were some European leagues for the. [00:20:21] Speaker A: Whole world, but it's just. [00:20:22] Speaker B: I know it's a growing sport, but I don't think football is on that list. [00:20:25] Speaker A: Okay. Okay. [00:20:26] Speaker B: I don't think so. But it also could be because it's a big youth. I mean, are we talking, like, youth through. [00:20:32] Speaker A: I'm just happy. That's why I'm smiling. [00:20:34] Speaker B: Okay. You're. [00:20:35] Speaker A: I want you to make the sweep. I want you to make the sweep. So I like your thoughts. You got a good thought process right now. [00:20:40] Speaker B: Skier sports. I mean, like, maybe ones I'm missing. [00:20:43] Speaker A: Like, there's a lot. [00:20:44] Speaker B: Does track and field. [00:20:45] Speaker A: I will say this. There's a lot of, like, norm. Like, all these sports, you know, like, there's nothing on here that you don't know. Some of them are even murals here at Emmaus. [00:20:58] Speaker B: Volleyball. [00:20:59] Speaker A: Volleyball is number five. [00:21:01] Speaker B: Oh, wow. [00:21:02] Speaker A: With over 900 million people said inner. [00:21:04] Speaker B: Murals, I immediately think of handball. I think that's just a European thing. I don't know, actually how big that would be. [00:21:13] Speaker A: Don't. Dude, don't read me, man. I'm not gonna need three. You're gonna read me wrong. [00:21:20] Speaker B: I need three. [00:21:21] Speaker A: You need three, four, six, nine, and ten. [00:21:24] Speaker B: Okay, so I'm missing some. I'm missing two really big ones. [00:21:27] Speaker A: Yeah. It's kind of not surprising. I think at first you wouldn't realize it, but then you're like, okay, yeah, I can. I can understand. [00:21:36] Speaker B: It's probably something like rowing or something. [00:21:38] Speaker A: No, no, these are like. I'm saying, like. Oh, like. I mean, row count, if you want to say it, but these are like, some bigger sports. [00:21:45] Speaker B: Some bigger sports. I'm. Oh, this is bad. [00:21:48] Speaker A: Mainstream. There are a lot of mainstream sports. [00:21:50] Speaker B: Like. [00:21:53] Speaker A: There'S some that aren't mainstream, some that aren't mainstream. [00:21:55] Speaker B: Like, probably like, kabaddi or something like that. [00:21:57] Speaker A: No, that's not mainstream. [00:21:59] Speaker B: Okay, I guess. Is hockey or field hockey on the list? [00:22:04] Speaker A: Hockey is number three. [00:22:06] Speaker B: Hockey. [00:22:06] Speaker A: Dude, you're killing it right now. You got four, six, nine, and ten. [00:22:10] Speaker B: Should have been obvious. [00:22:11] Speaker A: You're six for six right now. [00:22:12] Speaker B: Rush and Canada being such big hockey. [00:22:16] Speaker A: The. The sports. The last four are tough. [00:22:20] Speaker B: Are tough. Dang. [00:22:21] Speaker A: Okay, but meaning, like, you know, these sports, they are Main Street. [00:22:24] Speaker B: Are they non American sports? [00:22:28] Speaker A: Like, all these sports are, like, obviously. [00:22:30] Speaker B: Play in America, but are they more like, like, football? You think of Europe, right? [00:22:34] Speaker A: I will say, like, rugby. [00:22:36] Speaker B: Rugby is on that list. [00:22:38] Speaker A: Rugby is number nine. [00:22:40] Speaker B: Okay. [00:22:40] Speaker A: Rugby is nine. So with rugby off the list, I would say one is more known to be played in. Not in America. Not in America, you know, but in another country. A large country. A large, very large country. [00:22:56] Speaker B: Well, I mean, if I didn't say cricket, I was. I would have thought cricket. I mean, I'm trying to think, like, if you think of. If you think of Olympics and what are some big Olympic sports? Like gymnastics. But is that technically. Would that be on that list? Because, I mean, that's one of the. That's one of the biggest. [00:23:13] Speaker A: I'll say. I'm already giving you some help. [00:23:15] Speaker B: I know. [00:23:15] Speaker A: I want to. I want you to. So two of them. Two of them are, like, played. Played around the world. [00:23:23] Speaker B: Okay. [00:23:24] Speaker A: Kind of together. [00:23:26] Speaker B: Kind of together. [00:23:27] Speaker A: And then one of them is very well known. It's. It's played everywhere. We have it here. But it's very well known in one country. Dominating. These are great. [00:23:41] Speaker B: I already said. What was basketball again? [00:23:43] Speaker A: I'm done now. Basketball was number seven. [00:23:45] Speaker B: Number seven. Well, I'm like, I gotta guess because we can't be guessing all day. You know what? [00:23:52] Speaker A: I believe in you. [00:23:54] Speaker B: I. I really want to guess football, because I feel like it's 10, but I also feel like it's not on the list. [00:24:02] Speaker A: Go with your gut. [00:24:06] Speaker B: Football. [00:24:07] Speaker A: Now. [00:24:08] Speaker B: Football on the list now with your gut. Dang it. [00:24:11] Speaker A: Dang it. [00:24:12] Speaker B: So I have three. I have four. No, I have three. [00:24:15] Speaker A: You still have 10. Six and four. [00:24:17] Speaker B: Six and four. Okay, we already said cricket. [00:24:25] Speaker A: I would say for two of the sports. I'm not. I'm not, like, too familiar with, like, the. The tournament stuff with the other one. But two of the sports will use the word open. [00:24:35] Speaker B: Open. I'm an idiot. Tennis. [00:24:38] Speaker A: Tennis is number four. [00:24:39] Speaker B: That's embarrassing. You said one of them does or two of them. [00:24:43] Speaker A: Do two of them use the Open. [00:24:44] Speaker B: Oh, golf. [00:24:46] Speaker A: Golf is number 10. Golf is number 10 with 450 million. And then the last one is probably the most. Like, other than cricket is probably. [00:24:54] Speaker B: Why did I. I guess because I never watched tennis. [00:24:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:58] Speaker B: And the number. The number 10 is still available. [00:25:01] Speaker A: Number six. [00:25:01] Speaker B: Number six. Okay. You said rugby was nine, right? [00:25:07] Speaker A: Rugby was nine. [00:25:08] Speaker B: Rugby was nine. [00:25:08] Speaker A: You've said half of this word already. [00:25:11] Speaker B: I've said half the word. [00:25:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:25:13] Speaker B: Olympics. No, no. Was it when I said gymnastics? [00:25:18] Speaker A: No, no, no. [00:25:19] Speaker B: Oh, handball. No, no, it's not handball. It wouldn't be handball. [00:25:23] Speaker A: It's kind of a Two parter. [00:25:25] Speaker B: Like. Oh, did I say rowing? What does that even mean? Knocking. [00:25:33] Speaker A: Nice. [00:25:33] Speaker B: What is this, a table tennis? [00:25:35] Speaker A: Yep. Table tennis number six. [00:25:37] Speaker B: That's kind of surprising that table tennis is number six. [00:25:40] Speaker A: I mean, China, dude, that's China and Southeast Asia. [00:25:44] Speaker B: Yeah, you think about that. [00:25:44] Speaker A: Because they're Southeast Asia. [00:25:46] Speaker B: Billions of people. [00:25:46] Speaker A: You just gotta think of like those big countries and what sports. Like, you got Russia and hockey, you got China. Table tennis, you got India. Cricket, you know, and of course a lot of those. A lot of those other countries, India. But yeah, a lot of those other ones blended to other countries. [00:25:59] Speaker B: So then let us know in the comments section if you got 10 for 10. [00:26:03] Speaker A: It's true. Yeah. Or your favorite sport that isn't on. [00:26:06] Speaker B: This list, like kabaddi. Look up kabaddi. [00:26:09] Speaker A: If you like a body, please let us know. [00:26:10] Speaker B: Like, I love. It's so fun to watch. [00:26:12] Speaker A: What is it? [00:26:13] Speaker B: You have to look it up. [00:26:14] Speaker A: I think I know it. [00:26:15] Speaker B: Tag and wrestling, like, put together. [00:26:18] Speaker A: Oh, that's good. [00:26:19] Speaker B: It's actually amazing. [00:26:20] Speaker A: Well, that was fun. Good. [00:26:22] Speaker B: Thanks for the fast break, Shane. And my almost tennis. [00:26:26] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:26:26] Speaker B: Why did it. [00:26:28] Speaker A: Football. Football blew it, man. Football blew it. Only America, really. Canada a little bit, but that's it. Nobody really. There's like small little leagues in Europe, but not many people. [00:26:40] Speaker B: Right. I mean, seven on seven is growing. It's not official Olympic sports. [00:26:43] Speaker A: 450 million people play golf around the world. [00:26:45] Speaker B: Wow. [00:26:46] Speaker A: So. [00:26:47] Speaker B: And there's only one Scotty Scheffler. [00:26:48] Speaker A: There you go. And I think this might be more of like a. Not just a little kid playing, but like some like some type of like amateur to professional, so. [00:26:59] Speaker B: Because there's a lot of kids in Isaiah's football league. Yeah. So. [00:27:02] Speaker A: But yeah, there. Yeah, we don't count those. Okay, well, let's look forward to this week. What's coming up next? So next up, we have some games this weekend for homecoming weekend coming. [00:27:14] Speaker B: Let's go. [00:27:15] Speaker A: Shane, tell us a little about homecoming. [00:27:17] Speaker B: Homecoming. What an awesome opportunity for. It's. It's our alumni and parents weekend. So we have over 300 parents and alumni coming from all over the place to come back to campus, you know, reminisce on the old times for the alumni, for the parents, you know, that haven't been on campus or haven't been on campus in a while, get to, you know, be with their student, be with what's going on around. They get to go to class, chapel. There's a lot of events, you know, all centered around Friday night. There's A home volleyball game against Maranatha. So big rival game for that which we're super excited about. And then on Saturday, a lot of events on Saturday, Shane, there's like the, the Fun Run, the 5K. There's a sidewalk chalk competition. There's a chalk competition, there's a grill out. There's a volleyball alumni game. There's a soccer alumni game and there's also, wow. Our Mass men's soccer team plays Great Lakes. Big matchup, big regional matchup for them. [00:28:12] Speaker A: Two big matchups. Yes. Honestly for both, both volleyball and soccer teams. And if you need new merch, Shane here needs some new merch that please someone help me out. [00:28:24] Speaker B: Yes, merch. We have a homecoming store. [00:28:27] Speaker A: You might want to wear your favorite Bible college shirt just to like trade it in and buy a new one. [00:28:34] Speaker B: Yes. A lot of great material and stuff that you can get. So homecoming. [00:28:37] Speaker A: A lot of. A lot of new clothes and new store pop ups. So look into that. We got a lot of stuff going on with homecoming. So if you're in the area, if you're a family or alone, time to sign up. Still time to come sign up. Even if it's just for Saturday because you can't make a whole week in work. That is okay. That is okay. We want to see you, want to see you here. Have a good time to pack the jack and to pack the pollard. There we go. [00:29:00] Speaker B: There are also there's an obstacle course and a dunk tank. [00:29:03] Speaker A: Dunk tank. [00:29:03] Speaker B: You can dunk tank your favorite professor. [00:29:05] Speaker A: Maybe, maybe Matt will take a hit. [00:29:08] Speaker B: Maybe in the nest we'll have a dunk tank session. [00:29:10] Speaker A: Matt will be up there. Either way we're looking forward to this weekend. A lot of good games. Homecoming coming up. Stay in tune with our social media. Whatever platform you have. If it's LinkedIn, I don't know, you know, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube. Follow us like share. I would love to hear your comments. Show their love and support. [00:29:35] Speaker B: Go watch the latest video for the Discover Mass weekend recap that Luke made. It's an awesome video but it's a. [00:29:42] Speaker A: Great place to see what's going on within Mass as well with Emmaus athletics. [00:29:45] Speaker B: Yes. [00:29:45] Speaker A: And when they are away to watch where to watch the live stream so. [00:29:50] Speaker B: Or where's drive to to watch them. [00:29:52] Speaker A: But this week and this weekend we are home. So now y' all you gotta know is that you got to come here. [00:29:58] Speaker B: Yes. [00:29:58] Speaker A: But we just. And hopefully we do a good job. [00:30:17] Speaker B: Hopefully. [00:30:18] Speaker A: Yeah. So I guess they, they've had us up here for how many season? Four seasons. So we're still good. [00:30:23] Speaker B: That or all the other comments are disabled or something. [00:30:26] Speaker A: Will might have done that. But with that said, Matt, what day is it? [00:30:30] Speaker B: You know what, Shane? Like every single day, it's a great day to be an Emmaus eagle. We'll catch you guys later. [00:30:48] Speaker A: Sa.
