[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign and welcome to in the Nest, your front row seat to Emmaus Athletics. We're back for another episode. I'm your co host Matthew Tomlinson joined by the ever co host Shane Douglas.
[00:00:19] Speaker B: How's it going, Matt?
[00:00:20] Speaker A: Good, Shane, how are you doing?
[00:00:21] Speaker B: It's going good. It's episode four.
[00:00:23] Speaker A: I know. Isn't that crazy?
[00:00:24] Speaker B: Episode four of the season. Pretty exciting. You know, things are going exciting. We just, we just tailgated.
[00:00:30] Speaker A: We did.
[00:00:30] Speaker B: We just tailgated the other week.
[00:00:31] Speaker A: A lot of fun.
[00:00:32] Speaker B: Or not the other week. I guess the other day down at Faith Baptist and before soccer and volleyball game.
[00:00:38] Speaker A: Good turnout from Amaz alumni.
[00:00:40] Speaker B: Great turnout. Students, you know, shout out to everyone who showed up. Who do we got? We got. We got the Miller.
[00:00:44] Speaker A: Shout out the Miller family. Miller family, Katie's parents and grandparents.
[00:00:48] Speaker B: We got the Herzes, you know, John and Ali hurts. We got, we got Zach Ort, Zach Ortiz, ort master.
[00:00:55] Speaker A: The rans, the captains.
[00:00:56] Speaker B: We had. Oh yeah, all the families. That's the one thing about Australia, our teams is families travel.
[00:01:03] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:01:04] Speaker B: Especially the volleyball team. So shout out to all the volleyball families out there and you know the, the road, you know, the miles you guys put in to tear on, you know, your, your, your child, your kid, your baby. But also just the Eagles like they've traveled for games that have nothing to do with their kids.
[00:01:23] Speaker A: Right. It's so cool.
[00:01:24] Speaker B: I love it. It's great. So I'm doing great.
[00:01:26] Speaker A: Like the Maya Parson's mom and sister showed up to the game.
[00:01:29] Speaker B: Exactly.
[00:01:30] Speaker A: Who's a current student, which is really.
[00:01:31] Speaker B: And shout out to a lot of the other alum who like maybe aren't that well connected to aas anymore. But in the Des Moines area, like the Crims and them showing out, that was cool. So. Or even the Lake Country Bible Chapel, you know, we had some, A lot of people from that church showing up too. So pretty fun. It was a great turnout.
[00:01:47] Speaker A: Shout out to Pella Christian teacher, Cameron beach brother.
[00:01:51] Speaker B: So many, so many people to shout out. So we're sorry if we missed you, but we love you guys. We appreciate you guys for listening, for tuning in, making us a part of your day. You know, it's. It's really special to us to know that, you know, when people tell us hey, we listen, I listen. It's like, man, that's, it's pretty cool.
[00:02:08] Speaker A: It is. It really is cool.
[00:02:09] Speaker B: So I think the tailgate was definitely a highlight of the week for me.
[00:02:12] Speaker A: Yeah, it was fun so far and.
[00:02:14] Speaker B: You know, it wasn't a Great back.
[00:02:16] Speaker A: Outcome for cornhole we're talking about, right?
[00:02:19] Speaker B: Yeah, for corn.
But it was good. It was, it. He's, he's joking about the cornhole. I did play pretty poorly though.
[00:02:28] Speaker A: You did.
[00:02:29] Speaker B: Surprisingly more of the outcome of the Amaz games.
[00:02:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:02:32] Speaker B: But we'll get into that later.
We kind of have a lot to.
[00:02:37] Speaker A: Cover, a lot of games since the last episode. Shane.
[00:02:40] Speaker B: We do have a lot to cover with the games.
So what soccer had, Soccer had four games, volleyball's had three. Cross country race, week off. They have one coming up which will preview at the end of the episode. But how have you been?
[00:02:53] Speaker A: I've been good, Shane. I've been good. Yeah, we're getting, we're getting close to basketball. Like unofficial practices just started up and it was exciting to, for that to kick off and man, dude, it's back. It's crazy. I can't believe it, man.
[00:03:08] Speaker B: No, it is true. You got a lot of players coming in for this week's id.
[00:03:11] Speaker A: I know we do have an ID.
[00:03:11] Speaker B: Camp this week, so that's, that's pretty fun. But let's get in into it then. Yes, we've had a good week. We've had a good time of fellowshipping, seeing people. But let's, we have a lot to talk about.
[00:03:22] Speaker A: We do, Shane.
[00:03:22] Speaker B: So with the soccer, let's start not from yesterday or a couple days ago, down Tuesday, the last Tuesday that we said we were going to cover the men's soccer team playing ripping, D3.
[00:03:34] Speaker A: Ripping. They traveled up there last year, ripping. Came down here. 2, 0 loss for us. But we went up there.
Great first half, Shane.
[00:03:43] Speaker B: My goodness, great first half. Great turnout. They played fantastic, awesome. Played really well. Even the men's soccer team being hurt, having some illnesses. You know, we have a Caleb Hunter who's not out, still out. He hasn't played since I think the second half of the Kuiper game, which was the second game of the year.
[00:04:02] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:02] Speaker B: So pray for Caleb Hunter. Hopefully he can get back out there.
[00:04:06] Speaker A: Five games. Yeah, he's one of our games.
[00:04:08] Speaker B: Yeah. One of our defensive backs. We, we need him badly and we see that from a lot of these games these last couple days.
[00:04:16] Speaker A: But so, yeah, 00 halftime like you said, amazing defense. We played. Yeah, I was, I was at Isaiah's football practice and I was, I was, had the game like I had the game on my phone as I was watching practice and I was like, wow, this is crazy.
And then, you know, going into the 70th minute still 00.
[00:04:33] Speaker B: He just, he sees his he sees Isaiah, his son just run down the field and back and. And then all of a sudden, yeah.
[00:04:39] Speaker A: I looked up 50 and it was 50 in a matter of five minutes, actually.
[00:04:43] Speaker B: Crazy.
[00:04:43] Speaker A: It was.
[00:04:44] Speaker B: Yeah, it was 00 on the 70th minute.
[00:04:47] Speaker A: 70Th minute. We got a. We fouled someone. We filed a ribbon player in the box. They got a pk. And then it was goal, goal, goal, goal, goal. Right after that.
[00:04:56] Speaker B: Yeah. Just something you don't want to see but like just a meltdown and.
But I mean the thing is we, we have the excuses, but it's, it's a stinks playing the excuse card of illnesses and inj.
The team's still young. Like they're still coming together. There's a lot of veterans on teams.
[00:05:15] Speaker A: I'm trying to figure out who's where, who's better at what spot. Because like you said with Hunter being out, other guys that are out of position have to fill in. So guys off a little bit.
[00:05:24] Speaker B: But we mentioned this last episode. They're hungry, they want it. Right. They'll get together, they're game planning, figuring out best places to. To position people to work around, you know, these injuries.
So it's not, it's not the, it's not the fact that, you know, maybe they don't want it at the end day. And of course they'll have their, their, their locker room struggles and maybe whatever they're figuring out, right. Maybe there is maybe whatever issue it might be within the locker room, if there is one.
They're. They're figuring that out. They want to. They have great fly, right. They got great veteran leadership on the team. So I'm not, I'm not necessarily worried about that.
I just want them to, to have a healthy team too for once out there.
[00:06:02] Speaker A: And it's like true. Because if you think about it, like, like we have a. We do have a talented team.
[00:06:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:06] Speaker A: And that was a pretty decent D3 team.
[00:06:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:08] Speaker A: No, no, Rick, like, no. Like, no shame on.
[00:06:10] Speaker B: Their facilities are incredible.
[00:06:11] Speaker A: Just wish it didn't end the way that it ended.
[00:06:13] Speaker B: It's true. It's tough, but it's really cool to see them play a strong, strong 70 minutes.
[00:06:19] Speaker A: Like, that's amazing.
[00:06:20] Speaker B: You know, it's just like, let's just finish that game. Let's finish that game. Right?
[00:06:24] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:06:24] Speaker B: So, yeah.
[00:06:25] Speaker A: So that stank going on to the weekend, they then traveled all the way down to Manhattan. Like Manhattan, Barkley, you know, eight hour.
[00:06:32] Speaker B: Road trip, which is always rough because Manhattan, Manhattan shows up, they're they've known to be the athletic powerhouse in our conference or even also in the N. Double C. Double A too. But having won a couple national championships with the soccer program. But they've. I've had some new coaching and new culture, so. But it's. It's. What makes it really tough is the. The turf.
[00:06:54] Speaker A: Yeah. Because they have to rent a field that's a ways away from their campus and that's. Yeah. Turf field under the lights. So.
[00:07:00] Speaker B: Yeah. It's always tough playing on turf field if you're not used to it. And sometimes you. You. Even if you have experience playing on it, it. It doesn't mean that you're.
[00:07:10] Speaker A: You're.
[00:07:10] Speaker B: You're safe.
[00:07:11] Speaker A: Right.
[00:07:11] Speaker B: So we see that with a lot of the goals that were let in. We have a all American goalkeeper. And even the turf surprises him every now and then. Yeah. Some of. Some of the plays surprised him. So there is some unlucky bounces and skips.
[00:07:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:07:26] Speaker B: Uh, that ball.
[00:07:27] Speaker A: That ball flies on the turf. It's crazy.
[00:07:29] Speaker B: Against manh. I'm curious. It ended up being a draw.
[00:07:32] Speaker A: Yep. Two, two draw against Manhattan.
[00:07:33] Speaker B: So I'm curious on what it's going to be like when Manhattan comes up here. But they're a good team. They're a good team. So looking forward to that when we play them again.
[00:07:40] Speaker A: Yes. Home.
[00:07:41] Speaker B: And then the next day we were able to get a taste of victory.
[00:07:45] Speaker A: Barkley. Yeah. But it's cool because. I mean it's not cool. But we were down 2 0.
[00:07:49] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:49] Speaker A: 10 minutes in the game.
[00:07:50] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:07:51] Speaker A: And team didn't give up. They fought back 1, 3, 2. Thanks to Jake. Matt having a hat trick.
[00:07:56] Speaker B: Crazy.
[00:07:56] Speaker A: He had four of the five goals.
[00:07:57] Speaker B: Over PK to win the game.
[00:08:00] Speaker A: Yeah. Which is awesome. So shout out to Jake for that. Also Jake was awarded in CCAA offensive D2 soccer athlete of the week.
[00:08:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:08:08] Speaker A: So shout out to Jake for that. Congratulations. Our second soccer player to get received that award this season.
[00:08:14] Speaker B: Yeah. The man. People are head hunting Jake. They are like you could tell that at the Faith game later on that week. The. The most recent game that Jake was just covered the entire time. Like every somebody, there's multiple guys who had their eyes on Jake and it was a really tough game.
It started out with Faith having a lot of control over possession over the ball. But it evened out towards the end of the game and they really got in a rhythm a little too late.
[00:08:41] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:08:42] Speaker B: But again that game we were still missing Caleb Hunter. We weren't playing with Hassan and he's a center back. And if people don't know soccer that well, center back is an extremely important position.
You want a good keeper, you want good center backs, right at the end of the day, like if you, if you, if you, if you don't have, you know, anyone else, you want to put your best player at center back.
[00:09:01] Speaker A: But yeah, I end up losing 30 to faith.
[00:09:04] Speaker B: Really tough Tuesday.
It's not good to. It never feels good to lose. It never feels good to be shut out.
[00:09:10] Speaker A: Right.
[00:09:10] Speaker B: Never feels good to be three zeroed or. And it never feels good to lose.
[00:09:14] Speaker A: The faith or have an own goal either.
[00:09:17] Speaker B: Yeah, sure, one of them was an own goal, but I think the, the face.
[00:09:20] Speaker A: I think they count it as a goal for them.
[00:09:22] Speaker B: One of them.
[00:09:22] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean I think like again like you don't want to play the excuse card like Faith. Great program. They're great program.
[00:09:28] Speaker B: I was saying that possibly one of these two teams is going to win the championship. Yeah, it's insane, mcc, but we'll see. There's also CCCB out there and they got a good squad.
[00:09:41] Speaker A: They do.
[00:09:41] Speaker B: We still haven't gotten a full taste. We've gotten. I know we've gotten a taste but we haven't had the, the full MCCC conference teams playing yet.
[00:09:52] Speaker A: So we'll still have Ozark and Central.
[00:09:54] Speaker B: Ozark's always. They're the biggest school in our conference, so we never know what to expect with Ozark. And then CCTB seem to have a lot of good transfers.
[00:10:05] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:10:06] Speaker B: So we'll see. Man, we don't know our full scope of where we land with conference with soccer, but it was uh, it was a tough week.
[00:10:13] Speaker A: Yeah, tough, tough four game stretch for soccer. But with that, that puts us at 331 on the season. So. Yeah, still respectable record still. We're receiving votes in the last coaches poll, so still still a lot of opportunity there for them.
[00:10:26] Speaker B: Yeah. Players are playing well the first year students playing pretty strong. Getting a lot of minutes too with these injuries. So you know, maybe it'll help the future, you know, but we do have. This is Jake Matz last season.
[00:10:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:38] Speaker B: You know and he is our captain. He is one of our, our best players we've had here in the EMEA soccer program.
[00:10:44] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:10:44] Speaker B: Not just now but program program in it would get some momentum going for.
[00:10:51] Speaker A: Jake to finish off his years more success.
[00:10:53] Speaker B: Not. Not individual like Jake's going to have the awards, right? Oh yeah, it would. I would love.
[00:10:58] Speaker A: He's as talented as talented could be as you alluded to.
[00:11:00] Speaker B: Yeah. So maybe not like messy, but yeah. I mean. Hey, Jake, Matt thinks you're messy, dude.
[00:11:08] Speaker A: So you're the Canadian. He's the Canadian Messi of the ncc.
[00:11:10] Speaker B: That's crazy, dude. That's a crazy statement. Either way, we. We're looking forward to this auger season and especially when they get healthy, man. So we'll be able to be a little more excited talking about four wins instead of two. Ls, a tie and a win.
[00:11:25] Speaker A: One, two, one.
[00:11:26] Speaker B: So we'll see. But. And we'll preview what's coming up next for the soccer team later in the episode. But yeah, congratulate the guys when you see him. Had a good last weekend and a tough match, but I think this is something that they can learn and grow from.
[00:11:40] Speaker A: If they learn and they grow from the opportunity they had, it's a win. Yeah.
[00:11:43] Speaker B: So we'll see. Of course, trying to be as optimistic as possible, but we truly have a really talented team this year and it's.
[00:11:49] Speaker A: They're just this close way to figuring it out.
[00:11:51] Speaker B: Always fun to see them. So. Yeah. Okay, well, let's move on to volleyball.
[00:11:55] Speaker A: Volleyball.
[00:11:56] Speaker B: So volleyball.
Another, you know, rough.
[00:12:00] Speaker A: Yeah. Tough last week. I mean, three games went 03. But if you look, you have to look at it. They played NAIA Clark. They played number one team in the nation, Manhattan, and then number six in the. In the nation, Faith.
[00:12:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:12:13] Speaker A: So very tough three game stretch when at Clark.
Interesting environment.
You know, us being the only Christian school here in town.
There might be some presuppositions around that, but I think they, they first set, third set, bit of a struggle. But the second set, they played really good in the second set, which is really cool to see them compete against an NAIA varsity team.
[00:12:38] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:12:38] Speaker A: Which is really cool for that. Again, great showing by Emmaus people in town, which was really cool for that.
And then going into Friday's game against Manhattan, you know, they're on their like 60, 70 game winning streak against our conference. So they're.
[00:12:52] Speaker B: Manhattan is on like a, like a revenge tour right now.
[00:12:56] Speaker A: Like revenge century.
[00:12:58] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, they've been one of the best teams in the nation the last three years and now they're like, we're sick of it. We want it all.
[00:13:05] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:05] Speaker B: Right. Because they haven't won a Natty yet.
[00:13:07] Speaker A: Now they lost two years ago in the national championship.
[00:13:09] Speaker B: Yeah. So they're like, we want this.
We deserve this. We. They have the skill, the talent for it. So they are, they're beasts.
[00:13:16] Speaker A: They are. There was, it was a really Fun game to watches of how. I mean there was some good volleyball played on last Friday with us playing them. End up losing 3, 0 to them. But close matches.
You know, they're a really good team but. And the girls again, our women's team. Like, like we're talking to with a soccer team. Our women's team is. I mean they're, they're right there. I mean they're ranked seventh in the nation. Like people see how talented. Like their record does not show.
[00:13:41] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:13:42] Speaker A: The talent they have because they've been playing a lot of tough competition. Like they've played what, 43s and NAI and then two nationally ranked teams.
[00:13:50] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:13:50] Speaker A: Which is like that's, that's a big first month schedule right there.
[00:13:55] Speaker B: It's tough and that's. You know, coach Hannah programmed it that way.
[00:13:59] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:13:59] Speaker B: You know, she wanted it to be tough at the beginning and you know.
[00:14:02] Speaker A: Maybe it's physically and mentally.
[00:14:04] Speaker B: Maybe it's going to help in the long run because really it's just been a mental battle for.
[00:14:08] Speaker A: Has been a big mental women's team.
[00:14:10] Speaker B: And I have some young super talented players.
Some would argue that the team is more talented than last year. And we had a national.
A national.
[00:14:21] Speaker A: A team that parents opportunity.
[00:14:23] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. A team that you know, I would say is talented enough to play at nationals.
And so we gained in. In talent over this off season and it's just mental, man. It is a lot of errors. I think every single. The last three matches. You know, from Clark Manhattan to Faith, each set having double digit heirs.
[00:14:44] Speaker A: I know like crazy like look like fast forward into the Faith game on Tuesday. Like at Faith.
[00:14:48] Speaker B: Like that's a real stat, guys.
[00:14:50] Speaker A: Like really, like, like we lost double.
[00:14:51] Speaker B: Digit errors on like each set.
[00:14:54] Speaker A: I Faith did not beat us. We beat ourselves.
[00:14:57] Speaker B: It's tough to say that because like we. I, I like deserves their.
[00:15:00] Speaker A: They deserve, they deserve it. They're a talented team.
[00:15:02] Speaker B: Super good.
[00:15:03] Speaker A: They did not beat us.
[00:15:04] Speaker B: Super good beat us.
[00:15:05] Speaker A: So I'm excited for when the girls or when our women's team plays Faith at home next month because I think it's gonna be. It's gonna be definitely a different outcome.
[00:15:14] Speaker B: I get what you're saying of like they did not beat us. It's just like a funny thing to say. It's like, you know, they didn't beat us.
[00:15:18] Speaker A: Well, I mean they did so. Yeah, I mean they did, but I mean especially with volleyball where volleyball is such a. Well, it's a mental game but it's like you know, they score when we mess up and we messed up way more than they actually scored against us.
[00:15:30] Speaker B: Hey, no. And then as we were there, we.
[00:15:32] Speaker A: Saw it, which stinks. But also it's encouraging. Like, we fix up if we, you know, fix up a number of things, like, yeah, it's gonna be a, A great match.
[00:15:40] Speaker B: And I think what you said earlier, like, not, not to bring soccer into this, but both teams, they're just like, they're both there.
[00:15:47] Speaker A: Yeah, they are.
[00:15:47] Speaker B: You know, volleyball seen a lot yesterday and even, even we can, you know, push it to the soccer team as well.
[00:15:53] Speaker A: It's just a lot of, yeah, my bad, my bad.
[00:15:56] Speaker B: You know, and that's great. I love the accountability of like, yeah, man, my bad. But coming around that, you know. Yeah, we talk about. Everyone loves to mention, you know, the Kobe mentality. Forget, like having a short term memory, but we need that. We. We truly do. Like, just my bad.
[00:16:11] Speaker A: I'll get better.
[00:16:11] Speaker B: I don't want to. I would love not to hear any my bads. I would love to be like, great job. You know, let's go.
[00:16:18] Speaker A: But that's actually really funny because this morning I was, I was listening to a video of a comedian. Michael Jr.
No, not me. Preacher Lawson. He was like, there's some places where you don't want to hear someone say my bad. He's like, you don't want to be at your dentist and you hear, oh, my bad. Or you're getting your haircut and you hear a my bad.
I just thought that was funny.
[00:16:40] Speaker B: Hey, you don't want to hear that.
It's not a good thing to hear is my bad. It's like, what happened.
[00:16:45] Speaker A: Or for me, I mean, I don't have anything to cut off.
[00:16:47] Speaker B: Your barber really, really cut off his back. That's crazy.
[00:16:50] Speaker A: Yeah. But I, like, you said a lot of great things for both teams, but especially for volleyball, you know, if they can pull this around, like, which they can and will, like, they are going to continue to be scary against teams out there.
[00:17:04] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. And I really, like, honestly just really look forward to the veteran leadership.
[00:17:09] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:17:10] Speaker B: Really pouring down, pouring into the. The younger players, teaching them how to like, get forward, get through this. Because if you want to think about it, like, we had like a.
A couple years, maybe two years of, you know, mostly from COVID Yeah.
[00:17:23] Speaker A: We didn't have a season during Company.
[00:17:25] Speaker B: So there's like, there's a big gap of that veteran that missing the veteran leadership. Passing our core now never really had a lot of veteran leadership pouring into.
[00:17:35] Speaker A: Them because the People ahead of them didn't really have.
[00:17:37] Speaker B: So they've had to learn it by themselves. Right. And they've done a great job.
[00:17:40] Speaker A: They have.
[00:17:41] Speaker B: We have a fantastic core. We do, and it's great. And we still have tons of young talents coming. Coming.
You know, Hannah and company, they just recruit very well, so. And they get mission fit students. That's the thing is, like, at the end of the day, you know, even though we. It might not be a great show in the last week for a Maya sports, we have great mission fit students. We do that. Fit the culture here.
Love Jesus, want to make him known, want to grow their relationship with him. So we have that to look forward.
[00:18:10] Speaker A: Yes, we do.

Oh, this is tough.
I want to guess like Ryan Matthews, Ladana Thompson or Melvin Gordon is my person. Lt.

[00:23:29] Speaker B: Let's go.
Let's go.
[00:23:31] Speaker A: Is my person a Mecca?

Ah. Let's go.
Oh, that feels good, guys. I feel good.
Mecca Buka is a good guess. I did Chris Godwin, though.
[00:23:53] Speaker A: I like that, man. We didn't tough with though with Buccaneers receivers because they have a squad. They're stacked.
[00:23:59] Speaker B: I was surprised you did someone who was like so good or not necessarily Chris Godwin's good.
[00:24:04] Speaker A: I figured it would be you.
[00:24:05] Speaker B: I mean, I would probably try to get like a.
I didn't think you would do Ryan Matthews or Melvin Gordon, so. Lt. My favorite player of all time.
[00:24:14] Speaker A: Same.
[00:24:15] Speaker B: There we go. That was fun.
[00:24:16] Speaker A: That was.
[00:24:17] Speaker B: We'll probably do that more often, man. It's like I want to get like to like the details, you know, like, oh, is my person injured or all that other stuff or. LT did he go to. He went to tcu. Like, okay.
[00:24:31] Speaker A: His nephew also went to tcu.
[00:24:33] Speaker B: Sure.
[00:24:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:24:34] Speaker B: But okay, well, that concludes our fast break. I hope you. Hope you guys enjoyed that.
I hope you guys even saw who it was. You got to put the captions at the bottom. Will.
[00:24:45] Speaker A: Will post a picture.
[00:24:46] Speaker B: Maybe people don't know these players like we do, but. Well, we have.
Let's preview what's coming up.
[00:24:52] Speaker A: Small week. Shane of upcoming. We only have two things coming for the next before the next podcast.
[00:24:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:24:58] Speaker A: Yeah. So volleyball travels to all of at Nazarene to play on Saturday. They play at 2pm and then finally, finally have an actual cross country race.
[00:25:10] Speaker B: Let's go.
[00:25:10] Speaker A: So they'll. They're up in Chicago area at the Gild Dodds Invitational.
They run an 8k at I believe it's at 10 on Saturday morning. And then the women have to run a 6k 1045. So keep an eye out on Saturday morning for an update on how our men do on their first official qualifying eligible race.
[00:25:34] Speaker B: What stinks is that they're gonna have to miss Chris.
I know Jerry's Campbell's concert.
[00:25:40] Speaker A: Well, they talked about maybe they'll. Maybe some will drive up after the concert. But it is an early race.
[00:25:44] Speaker B: I doubt Gerardi. It's a big race.
[00:25:46] Speaker A: It is a big race.
[00:25:47] Speaker B: It's the first time they can qualify. And honestly, we'll see what can happen.
Maybe the women's team qualify here. So I don't know.
[00:25:56] Speaker A: Yeah. But yeah, small, small upcoming week. But yeah. Keep an eye out on. Follow our social medias. Of course, if you already haven't for an update on when and where you can watch stuff because hopefully there'll be some exciting posts on Saturday for how the men run.
[00:26:11] Speaker B: It's true. And then obviously for our women's volleyball team keeping update with our social media as well. Just to repeat, Matt, we'll be able to give you the details to be. To. To show you where to watch the women play. And it would be. It's a huge game against Olivet. It'd be such a rewarding victory if we can pull one out there.
[00:26:32] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:26:32] Speaker B: Especially because they're just a massive school. They are, you know, much bigger than us and bigger program, more money, everything else. All the above. And for our women to come together and be like, let's do this.
[00:26:45] Speaker A: Let's.
[00:26:45] Speaker B: You know, because there had. There's only been a few teams this year we couldn't really against. And some would argue that they could compete against all of them. Right. Right. The more optimistic ones. But like our. Our record doesn't show how talented we are. The last three games don't show how talented volleyball team is. So show out. You know, if you want. If you want. There's. I mean we already know the family is going to be there. So yeah. You students and alum show out, listen to live stream, even go to Olivet and support.
[00:27:13] Speaker A: Yep. Do this weekend, homecoming next weekend. If you're a parent or an alumni, sign up. Should be a great time.
[00:27:20] Speaker B: Yeah. Homecoming is going to be awesome. We got a lot of people coming up for that. A lot of alum.
[00:27:25] Speaker A: Yeah, a lot of alum. Which we're super thrilled for.
[00:27:27] Speaker B: It's going to be awesome. We have a new merch as well. Yes. University merch that you'll be able to purchase on site as well as online here. So if, even if you're not coming, you know you can get that link. You can get opportunities to buy the new Emas University merch.
[00:27:43] Speaker A: Pretty good.
[00:27:44] Speaker B: Is. Yeah. There's gonna be more stuff dropping as well as time.
Time goes by. But we're excited for that homecoming Discovery Mace weekend coming up. It's just an exciting few weeks.
[00:27:55] Speaker A: It really is, Shane.
[00:27:56] Speaker B: It's gonna be packed. It's gonna be busy and I'm. I need to take some time off so that be. Or I'LL lose my.
[00:28:03] Speaker A: Thank you guys for joining us. Don't lose your time. Take your time off.
[00:28:06] Speaker B: I know.
[00:28:07] Speaker A: Thank you guys for joining us. Shane, let us remind them what today is.
[00:28:11] Speaker B: Today is a great day to be mas Eagle. See you next week.
[00:28:15] Speaker A: See? Yeah.
