Episode Transcript
[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
[00:00:08] Speaker B: And welcome to in the Nest, your front row seat to Emmaus Athletics. I'm your co host, Matthew Tomlinson, joined by as always, my other co host, Shane Douglas. Shane, we're back for another episode. How's it going?
[00:00:20] Speaker A: Are back. It's going good. How are you, man?
[00:00:22] Speaker B: I'm doing great, thank you.
[00:00:24] Speaker A: So, man, what's new? What's new? Anything?
[00:00:27] Speaker B: There's a lot. There's a lot that's new. Obviously we're. Episode's a little late. We recorded actually this morning for once.
Had a lot going on this week over in admissions. Got a lot going on upcoming, a lot of great events coming up. A lot of exciting things in the works.
[00:00:42] Speaker A: This is true.
[00:00:43] Speaker B: But excited because I'm not really excited, but I'm excited. We have games this weekend, but gotta drive all the way to Manhattan, Kansas today.
[00:00:49] Speaker A: I know he was crying about it before we recorded, so.
[00:00:51] Speaker B: Oh, for sure, for sure.
Dripping down.
[00:00:55] Speaker A: I haven't gotten tons of feedback from our last episode when it came to our starting five for faculty staff. Have you gotten any feedback?
[00:01:02] Speaker B: Oh, just that the staff would. I Coach Reggie was like, I appreciate the shout out. So just reminder that the staff would. I mean, obviously.
[00:01:10] Speaker A: And we get. I think we would get like Krista Iverson. Like, I think she would. She's ours. She's staff.
[00:01:14] Speaker B: She is staff. Yes.
[00:01:15] Speaker A: So I don't know who's taking care of them?
[00:01:17] Speaker B: I don't know.
[00:01:18] Speaker A: We get her. We're not sharing.
[00:01:19] Speaker B: Would it be Ms. Cooper?
[00:01:20] Speaker A: We're not sharing. We're not sharing.
[00:01:22] Speaker B: Nope.
[00:01:22] Speaker A: I did get an email.
I got an email from Weston Pape.
[00:01:28] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:01:28] Speaker A: The son.
[00:01:29] Speaker B: The son of Mrs. Jessica Pape.
[00:01:31] Speaker A: And he said, hello, this is Professor Pape's son. I would like to inform you on your poor decision and wanting my mother.
And wanting my mother on your basketball team. I have played multiple.
Multiple. We have an eyewitnessed first account witness multiple 2v2 games with her. And she is not a sleeper.
Instead, however, it would be a good decision to possibly have her on a cross country team. Yeah.
[00:02:02] Speaker B: Because she does run a lot of 5Ks. Okay, Weston, thank you for that family information.
[00:02:06] Speaker A: He's like, thank you for your confidence in her, but I do not have that confidence.
[00:02:10] Speaker B: That's a real. That's a real one for a, for a faculty's child to email us.
[00:02:15] Speaker A: I know, right?
[00:02:15] Speaker B: You're wrong.
[00:02:17] Speaker A: I love it that I want that feedback.
[00:02:19] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:02:19] Speaker A: Give us that feedback. How do you feel about the starting five? If you don't know what we're talking about Tristan McLeod.
[00:02:23] Speaker B: Want to hear your thoughts on your dad?
[00:02:25] Speaker A: Yeah, he's off the bench. You know, He's. He's either 6 or 7, so.
[00:02:33] Speaker B: But the new Taylor Swift jokes.
[00:02:36] Speaker A: No, no Taylor Swift jokes. But that was actually like, completely ironic that I said that. I feel like the Emmaus, the EMEA student body has a. What's it called? A lunch table.
[00:02:46] Speaker B: A lunch table.
[00:02:47] Speaker A: They have an Instagram account where they interview. They like, keep track of the intramurals here at a MAS and they interview people. So when we were. When the staff was dogging out, there.
[00:02:55] Speaker B: Was a great video. Flag football.
[00:02:57] Speaker A: Yes, we were. We just took the show like it was. It was awesome. But they do a lot of close.
[00:03:02] Speaker B: Sorry, Will.
[00:03:02] Speaker A: They'll edit, like chapel speakers that I ironically, unironically say 6, 7 and probably.
[00:03:10] Speaker B: The final score of games or whatever it may be.
[00:03:12] Speaker A: So shout out to lunch table.
I believe that's what Caleb, Ness and Ashton.
So shout out to those two and anyone else who's helping out with that good content. Good content for MA students to laugh at.
[00:03:23] Speaker B: Hilarious content.
[00:03:24] Speaker A: So if they ever find this, they can use the. The six, seven thing right there. But either way, Matt, we got some basketball games this weekend. We have some ones from last weekend to recap, but most importantly, before our women's basketball team, a star not in the making, but a star who has. Has already accomplished so much in her career. Right? Was.
[00:03:45] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:03:46] Speaker A: Student athlete of the week.
[00:03:49] Speaker B: Student athlete of the week. Rachel Barrett. Again.
[00:03:52] Speaker A: Again.
[00:03:52] Speaker B: Again, for her, it's not new. Awesome performance. I think of the two games this past week, she averaged 22 1/2 points per game and little low on the rebounds. Nine and a half, but still beasted up low, which is crazy.
[00:04:06] Speaker A: Nine and a half's a low.
[00:04:07] Speaker B: Nine and a half is low for her, but athlete of the week. So congratulations to Rachel on that. She's been balling out this year. And speaking of balling out, the Lady Eagles basketball team has been balling out.
[00:04:17] Speaker A: Yes. Yes.
[00:04:18] Speaker B: Both games this weekend. 2 and 0 in the region and there's a.
[00:04:22] Speaker A: They got the crippled. They got the. The injury bug.
[00:04:24] Speaker B: It's the crazy thing. They are dominating games and they are so injured.
[00:04:30] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:04:30] Speaker B: It's amazing. It's so cool to see, like, girls late young ladies have been stepping up and filling in the positions that have been needed. And they just been hooping, Shane. They've been hooping.
[00:04:42] Speaker A: They are these. They're the surprise of the year and I love it. I think we kind of called it going In. In the year a little bit. I don't know. We can, you know, flashback, but I don't. I'm not.
[00:04:52] Speaker B: I'm not like, I was high on this team.
[00:04:54] Speaker A: I don't think we're. I don't think at least we are extremely shocked. But like, when you compare from last season, for you listeners, last season, looking at last season and how the women's basketball team performed to this season, it's, It's. It's. It's day and night.
[00:05:07] Speaker B: It's like last year it was like just, I mean, for a variety of reasons, you know, different things. But they couldn't score last year, if we're honest, could not score.
[00:05:15] Speaker A: But then also with the same issue this year of a lot of injuries or even lack of depth.
[00:05:19] Speaker B: Last year they had no injuries, which is crazy. No injuries.
This year, full of injuries. Are like second in the nation in scoring or third in the nation in scoring right now. And it's. It's insane. It's awesome.
[00:05:28] Speaker A: They received votes. Correct.
[00:05:30] Speaker B: They received one vote last week for the top 10, which would put them at 12th in the nation right now. Hey.
[00:05:35] Speaker A: Hey. Hey.
[00:05:36] Speaker B: So it's really cool, like we talked about last week that, you know, the, The. The nation. The coaches around the teams in the different regions are recognizing and noticing that, hey, Amas. Women's basketball is back.
[00:05:50] Speaker A: It's back.
[00:05:51] Speaker B: It's back.
[00:05:51] Speaker A: We. I mean, that's the thing you look at.
Our athletic program is relatively pretty young. It's pretty new compared to a lot of other schools we play against, especially in our conference. But our women's basketball team and our women's volleyball team have. Have seen lots of success, especially in the.
[00:06:07] Speaker B: The mid 2010s. Lots of success.
[00:06:11] Speaker A: Yes. So really cool to see our women's team making the nationals this last year for volleyball. And then now our women's basketball team pushing. Pushing for national.
[00:06:19] Speaker B: I mean, Shane there is really cool.
[00:06:21] Speaker A: It's like we're students again, dude.
[00:06:23] Speaker B: I know, right?
[00:06:23] Speaker A: We're old men.
[00:06:24] Speaker B: We are old.
[00:06:25] Speaker A: Old.
[00:06:25] Speaker B: Very old. But yeah, excited to. For them this past weekend. Yeah, two zero over the weekend.
Beat Maranatha Baptist, beat Grace Christian University, both regional opponents. And so that was.
[00:06:39] Speaker A: And Maranatha was banged up, to be fair. But we'd also played them when they were healthy earlier in the season.
[00:06:43] Speaker B: And we were. We were missing people this game as well. Yeah. Yeah. It stinks like when you're like, yeah, we have like our. Our best players out and another one. Our starters are out. Is out. And they were Marineth was missing three starters and so I mean, yeah, just the way it goes.
[00:06:57] Speaker A: We played completely healthy against each other at the beginning of the season. Correct. And you know, we saw the outcome almost.
[00:07:03] Speaker B: I mean they were missing, they were missing their best player who got hurt from the, the year prior.
[00:07:07] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:07:07] Speaker B: But yeah, so, but still dominate that game anyway. But yeah, both games. Yeah, again, really good.
Rachel against Mary Natho had a crazy game. She had 22 points. She was 10 for 14 from the field.
Went off. It's been fun to see Jennica beach, yeah. All time leader in digs on our women's volleyball team has hopped on and joined the women's basketball team and dual sport. Scored her first career basket against Maranatha. It was awesome. Her parents drove down, Vicki and Kevin drove down and as Janica did a like Euro into a right handed layup on the left side and the gym just went bananas. It was, it was the best thing ever. It was so great.
But yeah, and then Grace on Saturday, pretty close game first half and then they just turned it up and ended up winning by 20. So they won both games by what, 44 or. Yeah, 44 and 20 points. So they are, they're rolling. They have double digit wins for the first time since 2021.
So which is, which is pretty nice to see which I think they had that the three years after that.
So yeah, shout out to just, you know, Coach Canard and the way that, you know, he's putting these, these girls in positions, especially the ones that are filling in for, for all the injuries and so yeah, it's been, I mean right now our top four scorers are averaging 18.3, 18, 17.7 and 14.5 points.
[00:08:33] Speaker A: That's awesome.
[00:08:33] Speaker B: But that's just four girls, right?
[00:08:35] Speaker A: Let me ask you a question and like maybe we're.
[00:08:37] Speaker B: Sure, ask me.
[00:08:37] Speaker A: Maybe we're going to be repetitive here again, but what do you think goes into a lot of the success this year for the women's basketball team?
[00:08:45] Speaker B: We have actual basketball players that are good, that are learning how to play well together and can shoot the basketball and can play defense and can, you know, compete and not that previous teams couldn't. It's just the Lord has really blessed us with basketball players that are really good at their sport this year. And it's, I mean that's honestly really.
[00:09:08] Speaker A: What it is being an inside man from someone who's been in the basketball program as a player, as a coach, even seeing a lot of the success, not just as a student like myself and Someone that keep or people who just keep up with Emmaus athletics, but someone who is like first hand experience inside the locker rooms.
Do you see, what kind of comparisons do you see from the women basketball teams that really pushed for nationals, that made it to nationals compared to this season's roster?
[00:09:36] Speaker B: I mean, I would say like, you're probably your top five are very similar talent wise to those teams. Maybe like if you even it out. I would say it's probably very similar. The difference is, you know, the teams back when we were students obviously were a lot more deep. Cause I think back then we had probably, I think we had like 12 and 15 girls on those teams. And so, you know, building momentum this season into next season with having more, more players, more competent and competent players coming off the bench. Because right now we have what, two main people off the bench plus you know, now Jennica and then anyone else that's hopped on. And so I'd say that's the biggest difference is just the depth.
But those five, man, like they are just, they are, they're playing. And this is all without Amelia.
[00:10:25] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:25] Speaker B: And then obviously and then Hannah too, who just had surgery on Tuesday, or was it Wednesday?
[00:10:30] Speaker A: Do you think, do you think our starting five could make it a game against the starting five for the national push team?
[00:10:41] Speaker B: Oh, that would, that'd be crazy. I mean, because really it'd be like, I mean you would have this five versus like Madison West.
[00:10:51] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:51] Speaker B: And Tiffany Williams. I mean, who's stopping Tiffany? That's the question.
[00:10:56] Speaker A: I mean, Rachel, Rachel.
[00:10:58] Speaker B: Tiffany is that cross country speed where she's just running up and down the court.
[00:11:02] Speaker A: It's true.
[00:11:02] Speaker B: All game. I mean, I'd be close. I mean that, the, that 2018, 2017 team had a lot of accolades. It had a lot of players that are like, Madison's the all time leading scorer on that team, you know, Chris, and she's the all time three point shooter. Kristen Moore is second.
[00:11:20] Speaker A: She won the three point contest.
[00:11:21] Speaker B: Tiffany's second the all star game. Yeah, Tiffany's second in scoring. So like there's a lot of like high leverage, high level players on that team. Not saying that this team can't. Because I, I mean they're, they are competing with the best right now.
[00:11:33] Speaker A: Yeah. But it's cool to, it's cool to see like your like your thought process of like, wow. Like, I don't know, like it's close.
[00:11:40] Speaker B: I know we had this talk, we had this talk over the summer of like on the men's side of like, okay, who's winning the 2025 men's team versus the 2022 regional champions team versus, like the 2018 team. My senior year when we won conference.
[00:11:55] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:55] Speaker B: Regular season. And so it's like, it's just. It's so different.
[00:11:58] Speaker A: I'm still pulling for the 2018 team for men's basketball.
[00:12:01] Speaker B: I. I mean, some. I mean, the. The newer generation doesn't think that because they didn't. They didn't really watch the 2018 team, but that team was. And I'm biased, sure, I'm biased, but that team was pretty crazy. We were pretty. Yeah, we were.
[00:12:13] Speaker A: You guys were. I feel like you guys were more together.
[00:12:15] Speaker B: I mean, if you think about it, that, that year, not to hijack the conversation, but the 2018 team. I did. I mean, base. Half of the thousand point scores in Emmaus history were on that team. Yeah.
[00:12:28] Speaker A: Yeah. See, come on, guys, like I will say the 20, the team that made it to nationals, the 22 or 212020 team had tons of talent.
[00:12:37] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:12:38] Speaker A: Tons of talent. We had like Stephen, we had Tyrus, who were only here for like a short amount of time and then ended up transferring.
[00:12:44] Speaker B: But like Dylan Luke.
[00:12:46] Speaker A: Yeah. What you really saw with the 2018 team was the consistency and going back to the women's basketball program is if they can continue to have consistency like today, not just this year's success, but we see that success transition into next year, the year after that. That's what made the 2018 women's basketball team and so on, so successful. Same with the volleyball program. And then we had that little break where it was just good during COVID really tough, couldn't bring in a lot of athletes. People weren't going to college. And then now, now you see that. So hopefully we see what that with Hannah. We see that with Cody. Coach Hannah, Cody. Making their rosters, making their programs more consistent. You know, we've already seen it on the volleyball side. Now let's see it on that women's side. The women's basketball side. And it's exciting because we're at the beginning of it right now.
[00:13:33] Speaker B: We've seen on the women's cross country side. Exactly. All of it.
[00:13:35] Speaker A: So, yeah, so that consistency is going to definitely help. And what are some of the upcoming games for the women's basketball team?
[00:13:42] Speaker B: Yeah, so we got three. Three games upcoming this weekend. So tomorrow down at Manhattan, playing Manhattan, who our ladies already beat early in the year up at Faith.
[00:13:53] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:13:54] Speaker B: I think it was by four or five or something like that.
[00:13:56] Speaker A: But this is for the cup.
[00:13:57] Speaker B: And this is four. No, that's. That's against Faith on Tuesday. Oh, yeah, yeah. And then Saturday, because Barkley doesn't have a women's team. Our women are playing Heston College. They're an NAIA program from Kansas that they're coming up to Manhattan to play.
And then on Tuesday. Yes. We go down to Faith.
[00:14:14] Speaker A: Amen.
[00:14:15] Speaker B: For the Pat Dewar Cup. The second you remembered it. Attack of the or the second battle of the Women's cup between Emmaus and Faith.
[00:14:23] Speaker A: It's the only cup we haven't won.
[00:14:24] Speaker B: It's the only cup we haven't won.
[00:14:25] Speaker A: And I think we can get it this year.
[00:14:26] Speaker B: I definitely think. Yeah. And they've already. Our women have already beat Faith once this year.
[00:14:30] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:14:30] Speaker B: So. But a lot of great things on the horizon for Emmaus women's basketball. A lot of exciting things.
And again, like, once this team gets healthy, I mean, hey, I mean, just wait. We're back. We're back.
[00:14:45] Speaker A: We're back.
[00:14:45] Speaker B: We're back.
[00:14:47] Speaker A: Back and better.
[00:14:48] Speaker B: But now switching gears to the guys side, just kind of a tale of.
Kind of a tale of two different teams right now.
You know, obviously we have the injury bug, which stinks. You know, Collier, our best player is out for the year. He has to have surgery on his meniscus in the next couple of weeks. And so which we'll be praying for that.
But yeah, we played Maranatha and Grace.
Great game against Maranatha, which is crazy because like, if you look at this, Shane, like it's kind of been a tale of two halves. Also, like the last four games, the last four games that we've played, our men seem has played.
We've won the second half. Yes, we've had pretty good second halves, which is great.
Unless you have really bad first halves and dig yourselves in too deep of hole to get out of, which we also have done.
[00:15:42] Speaker A: I mean, it was Winterfest weekend this last weekend for basketball games and just to see the crowd out there was. It's really awesome to see all the student body come out there to support and you know, they. And see that continue. We want that consistency. You know, let's get that home field home court advantage. Right? But as what you're saying, the first half just really dug a hole.
[00:16:03] Speaker B: This has been our story. Like the last.
[00:16:05] Speaker A: But second half, man, you guys were just.
[00:16:07] Speaker B: I mean, because I think both games unstoppable. It was. It was. It was really fun to watch. It was incredible fun to watch. But yeah, like both games, I think in the first half at some point we were down by almost 20 points from both games against Marinatha and against Grace.
[00:16:21] Speaker A: I mean, you guys, you guys are itching that comeback. Like I know you thought. I thought I was like watching like, like a Disney movie right now. Like, like, you guys, everything you would want to happen to make it.
[00:16:30] Speaker B: I'm just kidding.
[00:16:31] Speaker A: No, everything you would want to happen while you're down. What's happening?
[00:16:35] Speaker B: Yes. Like we're just chipping away, getting stops, getting scores. I mean, I think, I'm pretty sure the both games. So against Marineth on Friday and then against Grace on Saturday, it. We either. We either brought it to a two points. I think it was either. I think on Saturday we got to the Grace game down to two points.
[00:16:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:16:53] Speaker B: And then I think the Maranatha game, we got it to either three or we tied it.
[00:16:56] Speaker A: I think it was. You guys were down by two.
[00:16:58] Speaker B: I think we're down for maybe we were down by two.
[00:17:00] Speaker A: Then they went to the games free throw.
[00:17:01] Speaker B: But yeah, so like we ended up losing by four to Maranatha. 93.89.
And then on Saturday. But yeah, like we almost got it and then just couldn't quite complete that comeback. And then on the Grace game on Saturday, we were down by. I'm pretty sure it was three actually on Saturday and then just could not like we used up all the steam and couldn't quite pull it out and so we end up losing 79, 58 to Grace.
But like there is encouragement of like, yeah, if you can just have two complete halves. Like if we can. If we can start the game the way we're finishing games, I mean good things are going to happen.
[00:17:39] Speaker A: We said at the beginning of the season know we see a lot of similarities of this team and honestly, the.
[00:17:44] Speaker B: 2120, honestly there's some weird parallels with that team.
[00:17:47] Speaker A: Very weird. So we'll see if the this team can find that, find that the consistency, find the rhythm at the end of the season. Because it's not what was it. Cook from Iowa State said it. We said it in the last podcast of. It's not about how you start, but how you finish.
[00:18:05] Speaker B: How you finish. Right, exactly.
[00:18:07] Speaker A: Being ready by the end of the of February, beginning of March for, for our season, how it works of come tournament time. If you're hot, that's when you want to be hot.
[00:18:16] Speaker B: Exactly. I mean, shout out to Nathaniel. 29, 29 points, career high on Friday. But like, yeah, going back to what you said, like no one remembers that this team had four Wins going to the post, going into the conference tournament because they went on a hot streak.
[00:18:28] Speaker A: That's crazy.
[00:18:29] Speaker B: And won two games at conference and four games at regionals and one game of nationals.
[00:18:34] Speaker A: That's crazy, actually.
[00:18:36] Speaker B: Yeah. So it's. Yeah. Like you said, it's not how you start, it's how you finish. And if we can keep building, getting better every game, getting better every day in practice, good things will happen, and it's fun. Like, when you. There's a lot of pressure when you go into games, like, especially think about, like, last season, like, there's a lot of pressure going into games as, like, the better team, the. Like, the higher seed than it is. Going to the game as the underdog.
[00:18:58] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:18:58] Speaker B: Because you can play a lot. You can play a lot more, in a sense, relax. Like, you don't want to be too relaxed, but you can play in a certain way where you don't have that, you know, pressure of, like, I'm shooting the ball to not miss, rather, I'm shooting the ball to make it.
[00:19:13] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:19:13] Speaker B: You're playing to win. You're playing not to lose.
[00:19:15] Speaker A: I mean, good shot selection goes a long way. You look back like, man, did I really need to put up that three? Or could I just draw for a two or, you know, kick it out?
[00:19:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:19:24] Speaker A: I mean, at the end, maybe. I mean, they were making it on Friday. Holy crap.
[00:19:27] Speaker B: But, yeah, it was awesome. But, yeah, looking ahead this week, men's basketball also, we are also on the road. We play Manhattan tomorrow night on their home court. And then who? We lost.
[00:19:38] Speaker A: They love us. They're big fans.
[00:19:39] Speaker B: I know. Podcast, see if there's any signs that says, put down the podcast again.
[00:19:42] Speaker A: We'll put it.
[00:19:43] Speaker B: We'll put it.
[00:19:43] Speaker A: We'll put it.
[00:19:44] Speaker B: Always put it.
[00:19:44] Speaker A: You know, women's game especially.
[00:19:46] Speaker B: Exactly. And then Saturday, we play Barclay, their men's team, who we did win by one or two points earlier in the season, at Faith. And then on Tuesday, we go down and play Faith at Faith.
[00:20:00] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:20:01] Speaker B: So that's a look at him.
[00:20:01] Speaker A: We lost the cup to Faith this year, sadly.
[00:20:04] Speaker B: Try to get back next year.
[00:20:05] Speaker A: Yeah, we're looking for the sweep, you know, looking for. To get all the cups. Some. I don't know.
[00:20:09] Speaker B: Volleyball has their cup. Women's basketball should bring the cup. Their cup home. We'll see if soccer ever ends up with a cup.
[00:20:15] Speaker A: They probably will, but not. It's not a good time for soccer to get a cup because Faith's team is just really good.
[00:20:20] Speaker B: They are very good.
[00:20:21] Speaker A: And again, Talking about the consistency, you know, it's just once when, you know, our men's soccer team hits a role, then we lose the.
A senior or someone who's so crucial to the team. So want to get that consistency, want to bring in a good freshman class and, you know, Coach McHugh is. Is doing some good stuff this year. So we're in this off season, but for you listeners, just to, you know, kind of know what's. What's going on, like, I guess not even necessarily a summary, but just keep an eye out for the men's basketball team as they compete at the end of the season and tournament season.
Trying to get. Trying to get hit a role. Be more consistent right now. Dealing with a lot of injuries, dealing with just coming together and, you know, starting a game out strong, finishing it, you know, but. And then our women's team, obviously is on a roll. Hopefully get healthy by tournament time and turn up and. Yeah. And then just see where they go from there. I mean, there's. It's nationals. It's nationals is what you're looking at for the women's team. And the men's team has the talent to shock a lot of people. So keep that in mind.
Keep that in mind as you watch our games or if you follow us on social media or if you come to the games. Continue to support the Emmaus Eagles.
Matt, is that. Is it time?
[00:21:30] Speaker B: I think it's time, Shane. Time for some fast break.
[00:21:33] Speaker A: This is my favorite time.
It's the only reason I do this.
[00:21:36] Speaker B: I got some trivia for you today.
[00:21:39] Speaker A: I hate True.
[00:21:40] Speaker B: I know you do.
[00:21:40] Speaker A: You're good at it, man.
[00:21:41] Speaker B: I'm like, this is better.
[00:21:43] Speaker A: Like, it's just that you're the subjects are not like my subjects. I don't like it.
[00:21:48] Speaker B: I ripped it. All right, Shane, we got some trivia.
[00:21:52] Speaker A: No, of.
[00:21:53] Speaker B: So NCCAA Division 2 has 37 schools that are a part of.
[00:21:59] Speaker A: I was gonna ask you that because I want March Madness. I want them to change the tournament.
[00:22:02] Speaker B: That'd be pretty crazy.
[00:22:03] Speaker A: Like, I'm like, if we.
[00:22:04] Speaker B: One central location where all 37 teams come together and, well, they want to be.
[00:22:08] Speaker A: I mean.
[00:22:09] Speaker B: Oh, or top 30 or something like that. Top 30 could be like that.
[00:22:12] Speaker A: A bracket of top 30.
[00:22:13] Speaker B: That'd be crazy because what would we be ranked?
[00:22:15] Speaker A: You think? What seed would. There are the 12th women team right now. I think we'd be like a.
[00:22:20] Speaker B: Well, it depends. If I would assume they do. They would go. I don't know. That'd be. That'd Be tough. Like, do they go by power ratings? Do they go by just NC CAAA matchups?
[00:22:29] Speaker A: Because there's 37 teams.
[00:22:30] Speaker B: Yes, 37 schools.
[00:22:32] Speaker A: D2.
[00:22:32] Speaker B: But not all have D2. Yeah, D2. Not all have, like, women's basketball or not all have, like, men's soccer.
[00:22:41] Speaker A: Yeah, but I mean, basketball, you got March Madness. Yeah, like, let's do March.
[00:22:44] Speaker B: Let's do March madness. But anyway, 37 schools, Shane. I'm gonna read off a school and you're gonna tell me what their mascot is.
[00:22:51] Speaker A: I really want March Madness for some.
[00:22:52] Speaker B: Of their mascot is.
[00:22:53] Speaker A: Okay, okay, okay.
[00:22:55] Speaker B: We're with an easy one, Shane.
[00:22:57] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:22:58] Speaker B: Barclay College.
[00:22:59] Speaker A: I'm nervous.
[00:23:00] Speaker B: I bet.
[00:23:01] Speaker A: The Bobcat. The Bears.
[00:23:02] Speaker B: The Bears. Ding.
[00:23:04] Speaker A: Yes.

[00:23:10] Speaker A: The Bruins.
[00:23:11] Speaker B: The Bruins.
[00:23:12] Speaker A: It's a bear. It's a bear.
[00:23:13] Speaker B: It's a bear.
[00:23:13] Speaker A: It's a bear.
[00:23:14] Speaker B: All right. Calvary University.
[00:23:16] Speaker A: Warriors.

[00:23:29] Speaker A: The. The Saints.
[00:23:30] Speaker B: The torches.
[00:23:31] Speaker A: Torches up, baby. What's the symbol for torches up?
[00:23:34] Speaker B: I don't know.
[00:23:36] Speaker A: I don't know. You guys need a symbol when you do torches up.
[00:23:38] Speaker B: All right, here a newer one. College of Biblical Studies, Houston.
[00:23:42] Speaker A: What the heck, man? College of Biblicals. I don't know who they are, but I'm gonna guess. Oh, it would be easy to guess. Eagles.
[00:23:50] Speaker B: It would be. It would be.
[00:23:52] Speaker A: But I don't know if they're Eagles. Are they Eagles? No, I'm not going to say eagles. Houston. We're going to go the Panthers.
[00:24:00] Speaker B: The Panthers.
[00:24:01] Speaker A: I don't know.
[00:24:02] Speaker B: The Ambassadors, whatever. Speaking of eagles, shane, of the 37 schools, how many are Eagles?
[00:24:07] Speaker A: Dude, all. Too many.
How many are there?
[00:24:11] Speaker B: Six.
[00:24:11] Speaker A: Six. Okay.
[00:24:12] Speaker B: I was going to the Eagles.
[00:24:13] Speaker A: Yeah, I was going to guess six or seven. All right.
[00:24:14] Speaker B: Crown. College Crown. Recently. Changed their look, changed their mascot.

[00:24:35] Speaker B: The Moody Bible Institute.
[00:24:37] Speaker A: Archers.
[00:24:37] Speaker B: Archers.
[00:24:38] Speaker A: Named after his dog.
[00:24:39] Speaker B: His dog, Archie. Dr. Yeah. Isn't it crazy? The North Central University Rams. Rams. The Kuiper College.
[00:24:47] Speaker A: Kuiper is the. They're the. The Panthers. Or the.
They're a cat. They're a cat, but they're not panthers. It's the.

[00:27:21] Speaker B: They are.
[00:27:22] Speaker A: Dang. Are we doing all 36?
[00:27:23] Speaker B: Not all of them or 37?
[00:27:25] Speaker A: Six.
[00:27:27] Speaker B: Just like the woman scores both games. So.
[00:27:30] Speaker A: Institute of God.
[00:27:31] Speaker B: The Institute of God.
That's a crazy mythical creature.
[00:27:36] Speaker A: The Leviathan.
[00:27:40] Speaker B: That'd actually be a crazy poll.
[00:27:41] Speaker A: That would be that was a good one, dude. Dragons.
[00:27:44] Speaker B: That would be. No.
[00:27:45] Speaker A: Okay, well, leprechauns.
[00:27:47] Speaker B: The leprechauns.
[00:27:48] Speaker A: The unicorns.
[00:27:49] Speaker B: The unicorns.
[00:27:50] Speaker A: Mythical.
[00:27:51] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:27:53] Speaker A: I said all the cool ones.
[00:27:55] Speaker B: There's one more that's pretty cool. That's flames.
[00:27:58] Speaker A: Oh, the Phoenix.
[00:27:59] Speaker B: A phoenix.

[00:28:15] Speaker B: They're the something Eagles.
[00:28:17] Speaker A: See the golden eagle? No. Yeah. No, they're the Eagles.
Something at the fight. Not fighting.
Golden. Screeching.
[00:28:28] Speaker B: Yes. The Screaming Eagles.
[00:28:30] Speaker A: The Eagles.
[00:28:30] Speaker B: Is that crazy?

[00:28:52] Speaker A: Give me a hint.
They're purple, right?
[00:28:56] Speaker B: I think they are.
They're an element.
[00:29:00] Speaker A: The Heck? The Diamonds. No, that's not Element.
[00:29:04] Speaker B: Like, if you're playing. Like if you're playing a game and you have, like, earth, wind, water, fire.
[00:29:11] Speaker A: That's a band.
[00:29:12] Speaker B: That is a band.
[00:29:13] Speaker A: Do you remember September 21st?
I don't. The. The Airbenders.
[00:29:20] Speaker B: The Airburns. That'd be pretty crazy. They are the Flames. Ah, the Flames.
[00:29:24] Speaker A: Wait, is there more on there?
[00:29:25] Speaker B: There's a couple. Like the Trinity Christian College, North Dakota.

[00:29:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:29:31] Speaker A: Dude, what are they? The Tigers. The Lions.
[00:29:35] Speaker B: There you go. The Lions.
[00:29:37] Speaker A: What are some other ones?
[00:29:38] Speaker B: There's a lot. There's a few other ones I wanna.
[00:29:40] Speaker A: I wanna play. Well, I did pretty good.
[00:29:41] Speaker B: You did pretty good.
[00:29:42] Speaker A: That was a good subject for Shane.
[00:29:44] Speaker B: When you got Simmons Falcons. I was like, dang, Shane. That's pretty good, dog.
[00:29:47] Speaker A: Ah. Okay.
I'm. I'm excited. That was a good subject.
[00:29:51] Speaker B: That was a good subject. Yes. Yes. So in case you ever wanted to know what I'm hungry for. The mascots. Of all the schools in our nation that we could play potentially. I'm thinking of some more, especially at Nationals.
[00:30:04] Speaker A: Man. It's good.
[00:30:05] Speaker B: Actually, technically, there's seven, because I'm pretty sure West Coast Baptist is also the Eagles because they're just in CCA for.
[00:30:12] Speaker A: What are we. We're not including.
[00:30:13] Speaker B: I guess there's 39, because.
