[00:00:09] Speaker A: And welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, to in the Nessie Emmaus athletic Podcast. I'm your co host Shane Douglas, here with my partner in crime, Matthew Tomlinson. How you doing, Matt? [00:00:24] Speaker B: I'm good, Shane. Maine. Like I always say, we're back for another episode. [00:00:28] Speaker A: Back for another episode. You never know who you're going to get. Honestly, there's going to be some weeks like, I was literally just gone all this week except for today. Came back just to record and then I'm off the road tomorrow unless I. [00:00:39] Speaker B: Could find someone to on the road again. [00:00:42] Speaker A: Exactly. So a week of athletic events been kind of crazy. Not a lot of sports news all over the place. Not really. Nothing crazy. Taylor Swift hasn't done anything crazy. [00:00:58] Speaker B: NFL can't go crazy on social media about huh? I said the NFL can't go crazy this past week on social media because. [00:01:06] Speaker A: Have that annoyed you? Has that been annoying you as like, all the Taylor Swift content? [00:01:10] Speaker B: I was just kind of taking over everything. [00:01:11] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't watch Good Morning Football a lot, but I do like the show, and I tuned in once and they were literally advertising a Taylor Swift. [00:01:24] Speaker B: Concert on the football. [00:01:27] Speaker A: On the show. I was like, okay, why? I mean, I get it. Like, they're Swifties now, football fans. [00:01:34] Speaker B: But yeah. [00:01:37] Speaker A: I don't know where you get it. [00:01:38] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:01:39] Speaker A: I'm not a hater. I'm not opposed to new fans. I mean, it's cool, but helps the. [00:01:43] Speaker B: Game grow, but at the same time, just totally only talking about that and not talking about the sport. [00:01:48] Speaker A: It's like I'm going to be completely honest. I don't care if the game grows. I enjoy it. I feel like, no offense to you, Swifties, you guys can love football, hate football. That doesn't bother me. It doesn't. They don't care about people becoming Taylor Swift fans. Maybe they do. Do they? [00:02:07] Speaker B: Maybe. [00:02:07] Speaker A: I don't see we're falling into the I just like sports stereotype now and talking about Taylor Swift. [00:02:15] Speaker B: Yeah. This is what this is. We've gone to zero episodes since we've talked about Taylor Swift. [00:02:20] Speaker A: We have a board. [00:02:22] Speaker B: We'll get a board up five. Well, we can't just talking about we shouldn't talk about Taylor Swift. And then here we are again talking. [00:02:29] Speaker A: About and then we also got like the controversial fake fan for the Chargers of the game. I think she's like it sparks my interest of like, okay, there's a picture of her in a Vikings uniform, but then also going nuts for the Chargers. [00:02:45] Speaker B: I saw a analyst tweet this morning, or was it yesterday or no, it was because they recorded it Tuesday, right? [00:02:52] Speaker A: For what? [00:02:52] Speaker B: For her interview on yeah, she was recorded by everybody. The guy was like, she has a really good camera, a really good webcam and a really good microphone and she's free on. The NFL planted her. [00:03:13] Speaker A: Everyone the Internet's crazy. And some of the conspiracies they come up with some people literally think she's an AI. You were screaming AI when I was listening to some videos earlier. [00:03:22] Speaker B: Because I saw I've been seeing stupid. [00:03:24] Speaker A: Man, that'd be crazy. I mean, I don't know. The only thing I know is Jesus is coming back soon. [00:03:32] Speaker B: Very soon. We are going amen to that. [00:03:34] Speaker A: The King yeah, that's some crazy stuff going on over there in Israel, Palestine. So we won't get into that because this is sports podcast. [00:03:43] Speaker B: Thank goodness. King chasing will revert to the NCCAA. [00:03:48] Speaker A: That's pretty good. [00:03:50] Speaker B: What went on this week? [00:03:52] Speaker A: You tell me. I was telling everyone before the show, usually Matt and I sit here and we talk, depending on the week of what we're going to talk about. And I think without fail, I'm like, Matt, what are we going to talk about? And he says, sports. I'm like, yeah, okay, of course. But Will can attest to this. Eric Rasmussen, the old producer, can attest to this. And we would just sit here for 30 minutes just talking about what we're going to talk about. We had the pre podcast and then the post and then whatever, the in show podcast. [00:04:23] Speaker B: Podcast. [00:04:24] Speaker A: But this week I've kind of been. [00:04:27] Speaker B: Well, you've been traveling a lot. I've been traveling. [00:04:28] Speaker A: I've been around. Life's crazy. So just I'm like, Matt, tell me like legit. I'm in your shoes right now. I want to hear from what's going on. [00:04:38] Speaker B: Welcome in the nest. I'm just kidding. [00:04:40] Speaker A: Camera just a map. I do know some stuff. [00:04:44] Speaker B: I, of course do some following when you're on the road. But yeah. So this was kind of our week finale. Well, I guess last week and this week before postseason. So our last regular season stuff. [00:04:55] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:04:55] Speaker B: So we have a couple more. Like there's one last volleyball game, one last soccer game before the conference tournament. [00:05:01] Speaker A: Which is next week. [00:05:02] Speaker B: Which is next week. So this was kind of, like I said, the finale. This was like what we did today. So realistically, the conference standings are pretty much solidified now, but this weekend definitely would help regional seating because there's still chance that because power ratings for volleyball didn't come out in time for this episode. So they actually came out yesterday, but we recorded yesterday, but before they came out. And then soccer comes out next week. So that would that was confusing. [00:05:32] Speaker A: That confused me a little bit. [00:05:35] Speaker B: So that will determine the regional rankings, but for conference. So yeah, this was big weekend for volleyball. So volleyball had two games this weekend. They played the number seven team, Calvary on Friday and then they played Ozark Rematch on Saturday and Friday at home against Calvary. Calvary is really good and we did not play. That like watching sports. There's times when you can watch warm ups, like the first three minutes of a game, or first, in a sense, the first five points. And it's like, okay, something's off. Yeah. And something was definitely off on Friday, which maybe it was because they knew it was going to be a tough game or who knows what it was, but they definitely looked off and struggled. And so that was unfortunate. End up losing 30. [00:06:35] Speaker A: And that's my thing with all that, Matt, is I feel like our girls and nothing against that, but there's always something there's something with our team and how we don't perform to our standard. [00:06:49] Speaker B: We definitely did not. [00:06:50] Speaker A: But then also on the other end of the like, their team doesn't perform to their when we beat Faith, we played Calvary twice, played Faith twice, played Manhattan twice, first time played Manhattan. We played all right. But it was the first game of the season. Took a set off them. Encouraging. Right. Then we played Calvary. Wasn't that good. [00:07:06] Speaker B: And then we set off them. [00:07:07] Speaker A: Yeah. And then this last Calvary game, we just did not play well. [00:07:12] Speaker B: They looked very good. [00:07:14] Speaker A: Calvary didn't. [00:07:14] Speaker B: They dominated the net. Their blocking was insane. [00:07:19] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:07:20] Speaker B: Very out of character for our girls. Yeah. [00:07:22] Speaker A: And then we had the Faith game. We beat faith. And then the second Faith game where Faith beat pretty, pretty it just shows. [00:07:30] Speaker B: The depth pretty well. And the talent out there besides Manhattan going undefeated in conference, but anyone could be anyone. [00:07:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:07:39] Speaker B: It shows this year. [00:07:40] Speaker A: It is encouraging. [00:07:40] Speaker B: Splits and stuff. [00:07:41] Speaker A: It is encouraging with the splits and how close the sets are. And we talked about that with the Manhattan game of not just the fact that we gave them a set, but also there's more numbers to it other than the final total of the game. But with that said, I would love to see they are young. I would love to see more consistency and we will as they grow mature. [00:08:04] Speaker B: Team grows, more talent comes in. [00:08:06] Speaker A: And that's the scary part is like once when this team finds out how to be consistent because you talked about once when they find out how to win, they know how to win. [00:08:13] Speaker B: They know how to win now when. [00:08:14] Speaker A: They find out how to be consistent. This is a national bound team talent currently and not including the talent we're going to get next year. [00:08:21] Speaker B: Right? I mean, they definitely have a chance this year. But yeah, the next couple of years, like, OOH, it's wide open. But then moving to Saturday when we played Ozark, we'd previously lost 30 at Ozark. We're missing Jenica. They were getting that was heckled and verbally yelled at inappropriately and so they were kind of out of there. But Ozark came in and so proud of the girls. It was almost like a 180 difference from the beginning of the Ozark game. They really set the tone. They looked so much better. They were playing better. They were hitting better. She's better. Caitlin and Salah had 33 kills combined between the two of them. It was super good. And they ended up winning three one. So we split the weekend. So it was huge of the girls to come back from playing not that good the day before and just responding very well. That's what they always knows. [00:09:20] Speaker A: That's like the story of the season, of them always responding to adversity or. [00:09:25] Speaker B: Not playing well because sometimes you play well one day you're like, oh, boy, what's in it for tomorrow? But yeah, like you said, they've responded so well from adversity or from losing and taking that step of like, hey, here we go. And then also before sorry, I didn't rep, but no, you're jenica had a season high 46 Digs. [00:09:45] Speaker A: Season high 46 46 digs. [00:09:47] Speaker B: So right now she has the top three performances for Digs in games this year. She has one, two, and three of like 46, 45 and 42. [00:10:00] Speaker A: And that's awesome. [00:10:01] Speaker B: That's crazy. [00:10:04] Speaker A: It's cool to see our girls in the statistics in top ten rankings and everything throughout the year, but not to be a Debbie Downer, but I would rather see more wins than statistics, that's for sure. And not saying the girls aren't winning, I'm just saying we're nine and eight. [00:10:23] Speaker B: Which is our best start since 2018 team when they started the season 16. And yeah, I mean, I'm just saying. [00:10:28] Speaker A: When it comes to statistics all over, it's cool as an individual player, but man, yeah, I'm doing really well. But then you also got to think about the team. And that's why I really want to see with all these young players on the volleyball team, on the soccer team, specific to those sports, cross country, them too, you can kind of include them with their time, but it is kind of an individual sport right now until we get more players, especially on the guy side. [00:10:53] Speaker B: But with the stats, they have, what, five, six girls, they have Caitlin's in there twice, but four girls that are in the top ten statistically of like, okay, the tools are there, we just need to get the whole team exactly that. So it's there, we're there, we have the talent. We just need to have talent on every single yeah, maybe not just talent, but everything clicking on every single spot. [00:11:19] Speaker A: The stats show, like, we have the talent. I just don't want people to be chasing stats. Right. And not saying anyone is no Russell Westbrook. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That's all. When I hear people and I haven't heard this from any of our players, but when I hear people in the. [00:11:32] Speaker B: Past, I have with previous when I play, I had this much. [00:11:38] Speaker A: Well, it's an accomplishment for sure. Pat on your back. Good job. [00:11:42] Speaker B: We lost by how much exactly. [00:11:44] Speaker A: So it is a great reminder and encouragement to see we have the pieces. [00:11:49] Speaker B: Yeah. Like real quick, like, Caitlin jumped up to fifth in kills in the nation. Awesome. Michelle's 8th in assist, Sala's third and blocking, Jenica's second in Digs. And this is a great one. Caitlin is now 6th in the nation in points per set. So that takes into account aces, kills, and blocks, which is like you said, they're there. Yeah, they're there. They just have like one step and they can get farther beyond that. And we're ranked now and that's the big thing. Yes, the rankings came out on. [00:12:21] Speaker A: That takes something away from you. [00:12:23] Speaker B: No, I'm so excited. We were ranked 9th in the nation. Let's go. 9th in the nation. 9th in the nation, which is the first time that our women's volleyball team has been ranked since September 10, 2019. So man, that was so exciting on Tuesday when the ranking, when the coaches poll came out and there we were ranked number nine. Finally, because you think about it, last year they were owing 16 bottom of the nation. This year, right now, as we stand, they are nine and eight and number nine in the nation. [00:13:02] Speaker A: That's awesome. [00:13:03] Speaker B: That just is the testament to Coach Megan and Coach Hannah's hard work they put in in recruiting and also the girls hard work, know, stepping up like taking last year and uh uh, that ain't happening again. We're going to do what we can to get better and it shows right there. [00:13:21] Speaker A: And being an admissions counselor yourself and I love telling people about our soccer team. I love telling people about our volleyball team and the cross country team, basketball teams, just the culture we have. Just the other day at a fair, I was telling someone about the volleyball culture and something I always say is we have the coaches and I specifically shout out to Coach Megan, coach Hannah, they will drive like 7 hours just to have a meal with you. We said this last year in the podcast of how much they really care for their girls and how much they want to get to know them. [00:13:57] Speaker B: Well, I've been telling a lot of people recently, contrary to popular belief, you can be a mature believer, do well in your studies, and be a talented athlete and showing off this year that all three can come into play, it's not just one or just two. It's all three. [00:14:15] Speaker A: Yeah. And it's awesome. [00:14:19] Speaker B: Number nine in the nation. Let's go. [00:14:22] Speaker A: It's cool. Finally, so many conversations and frustrations. [00:14:28] Speaker B: Come on, man. [00:14:30] Speaker A: So it's cool. It's cool. We don't want to get ahead of ourselves. We have conference coming up. We're going to talk a little bit more of the soccer game from this last week, cross country as well, and then a little bit about conference. But when it comes to regionals and time will come for us to really dive into this. But the door is open. The door is open for anyone to take it in our region. And we have the talent, we have the need, the desire to win. The girls know how to win. So once when that consistency hits, they know it boom. They know it right. [00:15:09] Speaker B: Boom. [00:15:09] Speaker A: There's no one more frustrated about that than those girls on that team. [00:15:16] Speaker B: To see them take ownership of the mistakes of the times when they don't play up to the expectations that they can, like, they take ownership, they have that mentality and then onto the next. [00:15:26] Speaker A: Thing, yeah, they know it best than everyone. They're going to step up to it. And I'm excited to see what the girls volleyball team does this year. Who would have thought, man, who would have thought that we'd been actually had a chance for going to nationals or making an impact in the conference last year? But no one knew. I don't think anyone would think that the conference would be this good. [00:15:48] Speaker B: I know. Like, we have there's four teams, four MCC teams in the top ten nation with Manhattan one. I think it's Faith seven, calvary or it's Calvary seven, faith eight, US nine. [00:15:57] Speaker A: Yeah, I think Calvary six. [00:16:00] Speaker B: No, it's 79 71 79. [00:16:03] Speaker A: Either way, though, super impressive. We're excited for you. Volleyball team, volleyball girls volleyball coaches, volleyball fans, keep thank you to the volleyball. [00:16:13] Speaker B: Parents that have been coming, showing up every game. That's been so fun. [00:16:16] Speaker A: Can we talk about the parents? Shout out to all the parents on. [00:16:18] Speaker B: All the Gregory and then on the. [00:16:23] Speaker A: Soccer team, all the parents are traveling. [00:16:27] Speaker B: Well, even mean I've said this how many times? Just like we're saying, the culture. The culture, the culture. How many soccer parents are coming to the volleyball games? How many volleyball parents are staying for the soccer game? That is so cool to see that. [00:16:40] Speaker A: And it's even the soccer parents that don't have their soccer boy talking to the volleyball girl. [00:16:47] Speaker B: But yeah, they're just there because it's just very much embracing that they're kids. They're a parent of an Emmaus Eagle full circle. [00:16:56] Speaker A: It's so cool going to the game, seeing pretty much every freshman family represented there for the soccer boys. [00:17:06] Speaker B: Awesome. [00:17:06] Speaker A: And then same with the volleyball girls. I love it. It's really so shout out to you parents. We love you. [00:17:12] Speaker B: Thank you for the support. We do love you. [00:17:14] Speaker A: You guys have a massive impact. You guys are like our Eagle Impact Performer of the year currently. So just like that goes to you guys showing up, supporting the and for. [00:17:25] Speaker B: Listening to the podcast. [00:17:26] Speaker A: Exactly. Yeah. They know what drink I like from the Coffee Bean. It's awesome. No, it's really cool to see that. And like you said, how much of an impact you have had on the culture, the sports culture, ben EMA's culture. [00:17:37] Speaker B: Thank you. [00:17:37] Speaker A: So thank you guys a lot. Moving on to some soccer. [00:17:41] Speaker B: Big weekend. Big weekend. Two big conference games. So we played Ozark on Saturday. [00:17:46] Speaker A: Yes. [00:17:47] Speaker B: And so rematch when we played them at their place. One 20. So the game here, we ended up winning three one. [00:17:53] Speaker A: Awesome. [00:17:54] Speaker B: Which was really good to see that because we were a little I would say not worried, but a little hesitant because on Friday they played Faith, and Faith only beat them 10. And so it was like, oh, did Ozark beat Ozark? Ozark 10 the day before. And it was like, Ozark must be playing a lot better, which they are. I mean, holy cow. Their goalie he had 17 saves, dog. Like, we won three one, but he had 17 saves. Like, watching the game, it was just like he was saving the most ridiculous shots. We should have had eight goals. [00:18:25] Speaker A: Wow. [00:18:26] Speaker B: And he went nuts. And it was like, man, shout out to the Ozark goalie for how well he played. [00:18:31] Speaker A: But yeah, awesome. [00:18:32] Speaker B: Three, one big conference win. And then we played Faith on Tuesday, which is faith is number one. The conference, they were ten one and one. So they've lost one game. I think they were on an eight game winning streak. So they're like best of the best. [00:18:52] Speaker A: Yet they're not ranked, which they're not. [00:18:54] Speaker B: Ranked, which is kind of interesting, but it just shows the depth of the south and the southeast. So we played them. We had previously lost at their place. [00:19:02] Speaker A: Three to two with a hurt team. [00:19:04] Speaker B: With a hurt team. And wow, man, the game was crazy. [00:19:09] Speaker A: I heard. I had so many people telling me about it. Well, not Shane, you got to hear this. But like, hey, guys, how'd the game? [00:19:15] Speaker B: Listen this all so we ended up pulling an upset. I'm sorry. It's an mean even though I think we are more talented than Faith, they're just a lot more disciplined because they have a lot more upper class, where we have a lot of talented, talented freshmen. And we pulled through and won two to one and oh, my goodness. It was such a great game. [00:19:36] Speaker A: I heard it was a rough game. [00:19:37] Speaker B: It was a rough game. Like, it was both sides were battling back and forth. The refs were letting both sides play. But yeah, it was fun because we scored two goals in the 14th minute. We scored back to back goals, which was really awesome. So we're up 20 going in half by Schuma. By Schuma. And then Christian edwin had okay. Edwin has had so many like, we've scored so many times off of corner kicks because of Edwin's corner kicks. So he kicked it, and Christian headed it in to go up 20. [00:20:07] Speaker A: What about Schuma's goal? Do you remember Schwima? [00:20:09] Speaker B: Christian swung it. I think Davis popped it up. It bounced off a defender, and then John kicked it in the air over the goalie cool. [00:20:18] Speaker A: And hit his outstretched hand wow. [00:20:20] Speaker B: Into the goal. [00:20:21] Speaker A: Awesome. [00:20:21] Speaker B: So, yeah, we were up 20, but then Christian rolled his ankle and had to sit out. Like, I think it was like right after halftime or it was like maybe 50th minute. [00:20:33] Speaker A: Okay. And it was like majority of the second half. [00:20:35] Speaker B: Oh, boy. We have 40 minutes without Christian to hold this 20 lead. And then they scored like six minutes later and it was like, oh, boy, here we go again. [00:20:44] Speaker A: That's a nail by 30 minutes of that game was probably like it was. [00:20:49] Speaker B: A scoreless and Pogon was six. So we were missing one of our better attackers. [00:20:54] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay. Because they really went into the bench. [00:20:59] Speaker B: Faith has a lot of depth and we don't have as much depth as they do. They definitely have a lot of depth. And so it was nerve wracking. Like, okay, we have 40 minutes and it's two one. Are we going to keep this? Because we've been playing well this season, but the last couple of years, it's. [00:21:16] Speaker A: Like we played a lot of our bench players. So, like, shout out to those guys for stepping up Christian's injury. Hold it down. [00:21:24] Speaker B: But big props to our guys. They really stepped up. Josiah Tuttle, who was playing right back, I think, yeah, had some amazing defensive saves and we pulled it through. And the final score winning two one is just huge because that's going to have like it's not going to affect conference because Face started the one seed. Ozark is the four seed. I believe we're going to be the two seed and the Manhattan play the three seed. So we're going to play Manhattan in the first round. But this has huge implications on probably power ratings for conference, for regional, which. [00:21:59] Speaker A: We'Ll find out next week for soccer or in like ten days, I think comes out end of the month. But that will pretty much after the conference tournament we'll find out more about. [00:22:08] Speaker B: Because last week we were saying, like, okay, I'm not sure how much this game really means because of the conference settings, which is true, but for regional settings, like, huge. [00:22:16] Speaker A: This makes it exciting for conference. [00:22:18] Speaker B: Right. [00:22:18] Speaker A: And we can talk a little bit about conference. So it's going to be really tough for the girls volleyball team in conference with three other top ten teams. And honestly. [00:22:30] Speaker B: Right now we're the fourth. You would be the fourth. [00:22:32] Speaker A: And not to put a damper on anything, it does seem like Manhattan is going to run away with it just. [00:22:38] Speaker B: Of how they're like 23 right now. [00:22:40] Speaker A: Just how they performed this year. It would love to see honestly, I would love to see any team upset them just because of how amazing they are this year. [00:22:48] Speaker B: Everyone's an underdog. [00:22:49] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. So no shading against Manhattan on that. [00:22:52] Speaker B: They're just really good. [00:22:55] Speaker A: Exactly. And they're always good. Share to love Manhattan. Share the love. [00:23:00] Speaker B: Right. [00:23:01] Speaker A: But then with soccer doors, open doors conference. [00:23:04] Speaker B: Well, because we lost to Manhattan at Manhattan. We beat Manhattan at Emmaus. And so now playing them a third time at a neutral site at Faith because Faith is hosting conference, all the chips are on the table. [00:23:16] Speaker A: I wonder how that's going to be. Faith home. Faith one of the best teams. It's like anyone's comments because who knows? Ozark. [00:23:26] Speaker B: Yeah. They only lost 10 to Faith last week. So it's like, I mean, honestly, any four of the four teams could it's going to be nuts to make a run. It's going to be a challenge for comics. [00:23:34] Speaker A: Whoever plays their two best games of soccer is going to win. But that's honesty. [00:23:40] Speaker B: Like, you're saying you want to be playing your best time at this time of year. [00:23:43] Speaker A: Exactly. And we are hopefully Christian still a little banged up. Hopefully he comes back in time for conference, but that's going to be man, that's going to be fun to talk about, to go through. But we have a game this weekend for soccer guys yep. [00:23:59] Speaker B: Against Marinatha first game of the season. [00:24:02] Speaker A: Last regular season game. So that's going to be fun. That was a big guaranteed win that we had. I had to throw that in. Right? But you already know. Hey, yeah, I'm proud of that. Why shouldn't I be? Right? You already know Marinath is going to come out swinging, right? I'm sure they've been told. [00:24:22] Speaker B: Apparently they have their starting goalie back. [00:24:24] Speaker A: Okay. Did they not have their apparently they. [00:24:25] Speaker B: Didn'T because apparently he couldn't play in the first, like, two weeks because he's in the nursing program there and he was in his clinical rotation. [00:24:34] Speaker A: That's tough. [00:24:35] Speaker B: But now he's out of clinicals and so he's back. [00:24:38] Speaker A: So that might make a big difference because we scored five against him. Right? [00:24:42] Speaker B: One. Five. One. They also played Faith last week and Faith beat them 10 again. [00:24:50] Speaker A: Oh, just 10? [00:24:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:24:51] Speaker A: See, that's like the four this year. [00:24:54] Speaker B: Have been have not like it's been all over the place because Faith has. [00:24:57] Speaker A: Been, like super solid in the month of September, and I feel like once when October hit scores starting to get a little weird. [00:25:03] Speaker B: Well, it's like this year we've had two games or we've had three games, so we lost by two and then every other loss was by one. And then we've won. Like, we beat Maryatha by four and we beat Ozark by two. And then every other game, those other three games have been one goals. It's been so close, man. [00:25:21] Speaker A: It's going to be fun. We can talk more about this next week when we get closer to conference play. We can dive more into Faith and Ozark and Manhattan and what those games will look like in Calvary when it comes to volleyball, some good accolades for. [00:25:34] Speaker B: Soccer looking on the stats side is currently tucker is sitting at number one in the nation in save percentage. [00:25:41] Speaker A: That's awesome. Save percentage. [00:25:42] Speaker B: Percentage. Number one, that's good. So he has 77 saves and he's only given up 18 goals. And that's like I think I don't know what the number was, but yeah, he's like up by almost 20% or 2% on the next person, I think zero point 70. And number two is at like zero point 64, something like that. [00:26:07] Speaker A: I don't hear the talk around town of what other teams are saying about Tucker. So I have no idea what their perception of our goalie is, but I believe Tucker can be one of the best goalies in this conference. [00:26:20] Speaker B: Stats right there show he is, and. [00:26:21] Speaker A: The stats show it. Right. Like you said. [00:26:23] Speaker B: And then the other stats is currently Edwin's top ten in assists, because Dog and then Christian, he said number one, christian is number two in shots, number one in shots on goal and sitting at number two in goals this year. [00:26:37] Speaker A: What did you say about Edwin, though? [00:26:37] Speaker B: He's number seven in assists, so top ten. So Christian this year is also number two in points. He has twelve goals and two assists. And I'm just going to say, speaking of recognition, based on our record and Christian's impact, if he doesn't win conference player of the year, I'm going to be mad. Yeah, he should win conference player of the year. He has no business not are you guaranteeing it? No, because I know that it's not usually we get shanked in that area. [00:27:06] Speaker A: For basketball, at least. [00:27:07] Speaker B: Right. But he should. Yeah, I don't know if he will, but he should. [00:27:14] Speaker A: The air in this room when you said that just became, like, super heavy. I don't know. There's so much intensity right here. [00:27:23] Speaker B: Yes, because he should. So we'll see. Yeah. If he can't play Saturday or if he can play next week. But I'm just saying, like, that's awesome. There's no reason why he shouldn't. [00:27:33] Speaker A: I agree. I agree. He was super impact, right. But like I said, with the volleyball team, with the soccer team, stats are awesome. Good individual accomplishment. Awesome. That the girls are killing it. Guys are killing it. They're in top tens of, like, a ton of categories. Let's bring that. Let's not get too caught up. [00:27:53] Speaker B: Let's not get too caught up looking at cross country. Okay, so cross country had their final regular season race. [00:28:02] Speaker A: Yes. [00:28:03] Speaker B: The Jim Drew's Invitational. [00:28:04] Speaker A: Say that again. Five times fast. [00:28:06] Speaker B: The Jim Drew's Invitational. Jim drew's invitational. Anyway in Wisconsin, and so another one of those super annoying the girls were in a six k. Math. Yeah, math. So normally, girls run a five K. [00:28:19] Speaker A: They're in a six K. Numbers are a little weird number. [00:28:22] Speaker B: Yeah. You're like they even took what? No, because they had why do they. [00:28:24] Speaker A: Even run the six K? [00:28:26] Speaker B: Because I know, like, in division one for the national championship, guys run an eight K, but in the championship, they run a ten K. But I don't get the five to six K. I need to talk to Coach Gerardi about that. [00:28:40] Speaker A: Wait, for a national championship, they run. [00:28:42] Speaker B: Ten K in division one, it's eight K for guys in our D, two national championship, and then same and then six K for girls. But yeah, so girls times were not normal because they're running further. But currently where we stand is. We're at 213 team time. To qualify for nationals, we need to be at 205. And so this upcoming weekend is the super regional race. So this will be the north region, the Midwest region, and some teams from the central region will all be at Faith for this tournament or this regional race. Excuse me, tournament, wrong sport. [00:29:22] Speaker A: So we need to cut down eight minutes. Yeah. [00:29:24] Speaker B: Which will be tough because both Claire and Bethany are both battling injuries right now. So, like, only Abby and Anna and Kate ran for the girls this last race. Dang, so yeah, we'll see. But currently Kate is sitting 12th in the nation, which is awesome. She's second in the region and then she'd be third in the conference, if we're looking at that. So she's been running really well. Anna is sitting at 21st, bethany's at 52nd, claire is at 56, and then Abby's at 62nd with the injuries we've been having because Claire's been hurt for a while. And so I think we're hoping that having her rest until this regional race next week, which yeah, is the last chance that Bethany gets to qualify since she's close to the qualifying time, or for us to shave eight minutes off. [00:30:14] Speaker A: Yeah, Bethany's going to run the team, bethany's going to run, claire's going to run this week and they have to just to really push it one more time. See if they can because it'll be their last race of the season. [00:30:28] Speaker B: Yeah, if they don't, because then it's like the regional race, and then they have two weeks off until the national race, which will be in Indiana. So I think it's at Grace College. [00:30:34] Speaker A: Cool. [00:30:35] Speaker B: And the guys, Christian and Caleb both had really good races. They both PR. [00:30:39] Speaker A: That's awesome. [00:30:40] Speaker B: So that moved up Caleb, so he ran a 31 58, which has bumped him up to 22nd in the nation. [00:30:47] Speaker A: Awesome. [00:30:48] Speaker B: So he's sitting at fifth in the conference and fifth in the region. And then Christian ran a 32 48, so he's up to 26th in the nation. Hey, so it's been good to see those two push each other because they've been jumping back and forth between times of who's finishing the heads. [00:31:02] Speaker A: It is, and it's fun talking to Caleb about it, but it's just like any other sport, any other race, just it takes one little bad race at Nationals, at regionals. For anyone else, it might say Caleb's 22nd in a nation, or Christian's 26th in a nation, or Anna's 21st. [00:31:21] Speaker B: They have a really good pre race meal and they just let's say they. [00:31:25] Speaker A: Have a great meal and a couple of people in front of them don't or not meal, but race, I don't care about the meal. So it's going to be anyone's race. [00:31:34] Speaker B: Yeah, it really is. [00:31:35] Speaker A: Everyone has their good days and bad days. [00:31:37] Speaker B: Yeah. So I would love to see if Kate can get up into that top five, which she definitely can. So we'll see this week because yeah at Faith, the super regional race before super national. So this yeah the last chance for. [00:31:53] Speaker A: That'D be fun for them to I'm excited for the cross country. [00:31:57] Speaker B: We're sitting at Kate and Anna qualified and Christian and Caleb qualified. So yeah we're right there. [00:32:02] Speaker A: Yeah just like every other sport that we have right now for soccer, volleyball, cross country, basketball, we'll get to that but super excited moving forward for the upcoming incoming classes that come. [00:32:15] Speaker B: I was talking with Coach Gerardi, we have some good incoming recruits for cross country next year so I'm excited. [00:32:21] Speaker A: Yeah you can do the La program. We're moving forward, man, it's going to be great. [00:32:25] Speaker B: So yeah, looking ahead we've touched a little bit about upcoming stuff. [00:32:29] Speaker A: Soccer. [00:32:29] Speaker B: Plays Marine ass on Saturday. Volleyball has a big regional game against Grace. So I think we're 9th. Grace was receiving a vote so they're in that 11th. twelveTH realm cross country obviously has the super regional this weekend and then next week will be conference for soccer and for volleyball. So volleyball travels all the way down to Manhattan and then soccer is at Faith. [00:32:57] Speaker A: We can touch more on conference next week and episode honestly that would probably be what most of next week's episode will be about this conference. Shoot, I'll probably be gone. Let's record early but looking forward to this weekend for the sports, for volleyball, cross country. Their last meet, the super regional and then the soccer guys getting a tackle on one of our rivals Marinatha with their starting goalie in wait, who did you say volleyball girls are playing? [00:33:23] Speaker B: Grace. [00:33:24] Speaker A: Grace who? [00:33:25] Speaker B: They beat three two earlier in the year when Grace was ranked and we're home for that. [00:33:28] Speaker A: So that's their last home game. [00:33:30] Speaker B: So it's crazy how fast season's gone that we're already at the end. Man, it's wild semester. [00:33:37] Speaker A: It just seems like a know a month and a half but super exciting going forward. Moving forward for tournament play next weekend, finishing out this weekend, cross country possibly a lot of their last races but hopefully know and that means that we're. [00:33:53] Speaker B: Just two weeks away from first basketball games which is wild. So we'll touch that next week. But yeah like the season is coming. [00:34:01] Speaker A: It'S going to be good. All righty, well anything else to add Matt? [00:34:06] Speaker B: Yes, we want to shout out our lone fall sports senior. [00:34:11] Speaker A: Yes, zach ort yes? Clap, clap, clap. We love you Zach. You've been a great impact to the community here at Emmaus, especially on the soccer team and on your floors, seeing how you came in, like you said you pointed out. [00:34:27] Speaker B: Yeah, I just want to commend Zach because he came in for soccer, but knowing that there wasn't going to be a season that year, he still came to Emmaus, still fully invested in everything. And he's made like you said, he's made such an impact on the field, in the dorms, on student leadership, and it's just been really cool to see him and how he's grown these last four years and just the mayest experience impact that he's had. [00:34:49] Speaker A: Yeah. So thank you Zach for being here. You've been awesome know, you became one of my friends became I don't know what you are to. So thanks for everything you've brought to Emmaus. You really helped the floor impact. Just seeing how you've taken some guys under your wing in the past couple years and how much you've been an impact to them. We're saying a lot of impact, but you are Eagle impact because you are the know. So we would love for you to come back for an extra year, but we'll see on you know, just talk a little bit more about Zach but what he really embodies know, the student who is a leader without the title. [00:35:30] Speaker B: He'S the sheriff without a badge. [00:35:32] Speaker A: And how many players and people and friends I have who have talked about his leadership on the field is like unmatched to anything they've ever experienced in their athletic career. [00:35:45] Speaker B: Strong leader in the educational ministries department. [00:35:47] Speaker A: Exactly. Which is like a family community here. I was a part of it, graduated from the educational Ministry department and how much of A say he has and they sit together for lunch now and again. And I know they've had meetings of trying to involve some of the leaders in that department, including Zach himself, to try to put some trips and stuff together for everyone. So people look up to him, everyone looks up to you, the guys on the floor but you and the people in the department and us on staff. We appreciate what you've been able to bring to you. Thank you, Zach. Love you, man. Kill it for the rest of the season, dude, you're going to do great. I mean that's. Another thing to talk about is how he was not going to play this year and he came to help the team. And honestly, I don't know what we would have done without him. And we would have won some of the games we played, and we definitely wouldn't be where we are in conference or with a possibility of making a run for Nationals without Zach. So again, thank you, Zach. [00:36:48] Speaker B: Captain Zortan. [00:36:51] Speaker A: Captain Zort. So he's not the captain but he's a captain, right? Yes. So other than that, is there anything else? I feel like we're forgetting something, man. [00:37:00] Speaker B: Just the final showcase until postseason play. [00:37:05] Speaker A: I don't know if I can talk about this. You might get upset at me later. But we do have some signings, right? We can hint signings. We don't have to. [00:37:11] Speaker B: Just had our first signing. There you go. Lindsay Mcelvine signed for the volleyball team this past weekend too, after the game. So shout out Lindsay. Our first official fall 24 emmaus athletic Eagle or Mayas Eagle athletic signing. So we're very excited for her. She has a lot of upside. She's a big power hitter from New Berlin, wisconsin. [00:37:35] Speaker A: Wisconsin. [00:37:36] Speaker B: Wisconsin. And we have some more on the way, so keep looking out for social media for those posts of the newest Eagles. [00:37:44] Speaker A: It's going to be fun. If you want to be one of those Eagles, matt, where do you go? [00:37:47] Speaker B: You go to our athletic website and you look at the recruiting form, fill that out and you probably will get in contact with a coach. And then you can work with Shane and I on the admission side. And so we need more people here. We love people here. We love it here. We would love it for you guys to be here, too. [00:38:08] Speaker A: And also keep that discovery. May this weekend, march 22, right? [00:38:14] Speaker B: Something like that. 23rd, 24th, yeah. [00:38:17] Speaker A: On your calendars, we're going to have Shane and Shane. Shane and Shane comes with Shane. With Shane. With me. I'm going to be singing I won't be. Well, anyways, thank you, everyone for tuning in. We appreciate you guys comment. Like post, share, whatever you do. Parents keep coming. We love you guys. Way to change and impact the culture here. Zach, we also love you. But Matt, I love you. [00:38:39] Speaker B: I love you too, Shane. [00:38:40] Speaker A: What? All right, everyone, we'll see you next week. Thanks for tuning in. [00:38:44] Speaker B: See you guys. Sam.
